Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

Sport is a results business and Griffin had none for the past three months and constantly failed to correct glaring issues. That doesn't mean he should go but there's absolutely no reason why his role cant be questioned.

Re: Sack Griffin

Have a cry :) A professional at a high profile sporting organisation had his position questioned.

/End of the world.

You seem to enjoy bagging the Broncos lately. Griffin, Lockyer and Langer. Who is next??

I'm really not though, you're taking it the wrong way.

I completely admire Lockyer and he's definitely my favourite player ever but as a "Journalist" his opinion is worthless 99% of the time because it's just politically correct stuff which anyone can write, there's no real substance but that's not limited to Lockyer. Every recent retired ex-league player cum journalist just writes politically correct articles with no substance so they're just boring.

I also think Langer is awesome but as an assistant coach he just isn't well qualified and got the role purely on reputation rather than hard work going through coaching ranks to earn the right to be assistant coached at Australians most recognised sporting brand. I definitely want him to stick around the club but we would be better off with a really well qualified assistant coach like every other successful club has.

Griffin - eh. He knows how to motivate the playing group and has the respect of the players which is half the job and very important but many of his decisions are baffling and annoyed me as a fan. Maranta getting dropped for a horribly out of form Hoffman. Beale not getting a go at fullback because he's leaving next year. Not dropping Norman for Hunt when our season was on the line and Norman was playing horribly. Terrible use of the interchange bench. He made a lot of mistakes which seemed obvious to everyone else but the huge positive is that even when our season was completely lost the playing group never gave up so I'm optimistic that getting a real assistant coach with real coaching experience will help Griffin with some of his tactics and interchange use.

Bump.

What the **** has this idiot been doing in the off-season?

Sack Griffin

I think he deserves a couple of months before we start calling for his head. I don't want to be a club who sacks coaches

Re: Sack Griffin

I'm pretty sure he wasn't actually there for the off season. Either that or he is actually blind.

either do I ...some of the ckicken little posts going around after one round of foot ball make me sick.

Spoilt brats who have had it all too easy for far too long.

Dig in girls .....it's going to get rough

Re: Sack Griffin

If things don't change, then absolutely. Good NRL coaches are able to see the flaws and make changes to make sure they happen less and less. He had all off season to make these changes and nothing has changed.

This thread was made on the 24th of August last year, this isn't just a knee jerk reaction to tonights performance.

Re: Sack Griffin

I have a feeling he won't be our coach next year. Our attack is ordinary, he seems to be afraid to make difficult choices (even Henjak dropped Michaels eventually), his usage of the bench and questionable faith in ordinary players is worrying.

So you expected everything to change in the off season.....?

Re: Sack Griffin

well when else is it supposed to change? we werent into the off season at that stage and we had been dissapointing for a few weeks before that. I personally don't think we should sack Hook just yet, but we have been performing shit for a while now.

Re: Sack Griffin

Give him the first 8 weeks, if we're still playing like shit we need a new coach.

But really who? What coaches are actually available?

Tim Sheens, Flanagan (lol), Folkes?

I've got a bad feeling it would be Kearney.
