Re: Sack Griffin

If someone doesn't punch Hook in the face and tell him that the fast passing game where the Broncos look ****ing shit hot in attack, doesn't work unless the attacking line is DEEP!

Re: Sack Griffin

Can this thread go straight to the pool room.

Poor broncospwn can't just rant about another loss.

Next time, just blame Wallace. (It works a treat.)

Or say you were drunk at the time of posting. :tongue_smilie:

Re: Sack Griffin

2006.......the number of Brisbane players involved in SOO was substantially higher.

How did we go that year.....?

Oh that's right....premiers!

Don't ruin it with facts.

You are a killjoy.

Re: Sack Griffin

Our season nearly died in the ass in 06 because of Origin & it took a champion side coached by a legend to survive it.

After 5 years of dealing with it constantly killing us.

06 pretty much proves Origin has too big an effect.

See that's the difference between this side & 06, we have a side of nuffies & our current coach will never be a legend IMO.

Re: Sack Griffin

2006 was largely thanks to Hodges, Berrigan and Lockyer playing in career best form, as well as Thaiday, Parker and Hunt finally coming into their own.

Re: Sack Griffin

No, the difference between this side and the 06 side was that the 06 side was made up of experienced campaigners all at the peak of their careers. On the other hand, most of the Broncos have only just had a taste of rep. footy.

Hook is his second year, Bennett didn't qualify for the finals in his second year either and he had star studded side made up of practically the Origin team.

Some people just get off on others failures.

Re: Sack Griffin

Unfortunately, things are not likely to improve next year, in fact, they are likely to slide a bit further. Take Petero, Teo and Beale out of the side, I just see us with a weaker squad, so unless there is a distinct turn around in form and attitude next year, I see us sliding further. The idea of another assistant coach is interesting, but you need someone with (a) significant coaching experience (b) who is a good tactician; (c) is in no way interested in a head coaching role and therefore will not be, and will not be seen to be a threat to Griffin. Someone who ticks those boxes is Michael Hagan. Given his previous health issues I don't know whether he would be willing to go back to a full time club position though.

True, our side is nowhere near as talented as 2006 and lets face it, arguably no coach will reach the same status or success as Bennett. Comparing our 2006 side to our current side, apart from our current players who were there in 2006 (though Thaiday's current form is much worse than 2006-Thaiday), only Yow-Yeh (and he's not even playing currently) and possibly Wallace and McGuire would make that side. Maybe we've had too high expectations for the post-Locky era and our good start to the season glossed over our lack of talent in the team? In any case, I dont' really blame Hook, sure he could use some help on the offensive side of things, but I think there a variety of reasons for our shocking form, including simply having a less talented side

What a load of BS.

Comparing a team with most players at their prime and full of legends of the game, to a young Broncos team still building and shaky in their foundation. Yeah right... Facts. :001_rolleyes:

Re: Sack Griffin

If we do end up missing the 8 this year, I hope it is pointed out to the team that two games that they lost in the last minute (Cowboys and Manly) will end up being the difference between making the 8 and missing out. What has frustrated me about this side, and it has continued all year, they have not been capable of maintaining a 80 minute performance.

BINGO.

Agree with you.

And add in the Storm game and (probably) the Dogs game in which we were dudded by the refs, and we could have been sitting in around 2nd, certainly in the top 4. I think looking back those four games were the defining games of our season.

Yes we got dudded, but previous years we would have gritted our teeth & fought to the death, instead of going into our shells & waving the white flag.

Did I see someone suggest Michael Hagan as coach or was that as an assistant?

Re: Sack Griffin

Assistant.....

Re: Sack Griffin

I'd like to see Locky forget about TV (he's a bit Wally Lewis like .....not a natural) and concentrate on his coaching aspirations to see if he has anything to offer as a coach/assistant.

Is he currently involved with the team training at all......?
