Re: Sack Griffin

No offence bp, but when I logged in a few minutes ago, I couldn't believe it when I saw this thread title, and that you had started it! :winky:

In my book, there's absolutely no way Hook deserves to get the boot. The thought hadn't even entered my mind. As Nashy said, he'll learn from this experience.

Well I was just furious after such a poor game. I don't really want him sacked but I'm so sick of these late season "slumps". It's so frustrating as a Broncos fan to watch year after year for as long as I can remember, us turning into a mediocre team after origin.

Re: Sack Griffin

Were we ever really that good this year though? I mean, we won games, but we always had those lapses too. I think we over performed to start the year, in part due to other teams being behind where they are now, and now we are underperforming (until recently) it's made the drop seem worse. Tbh, I don't think we are too far off where I'd have predicted us to be at the start of the year, but it's the way we have dropped off and the seeming lack of innovation to fix these problems that I think are the real concern. The Storm and Dogs games really were encouraging though, it's just a shame our spine doesn't seem to understand each other. For me that is the main issue - if our spine hasn't improved since the beginning of the season we've wasted the year.

What the games against the Dogs and Storm showed me is that if we played to our potential more often this season we would have been in the top 4 IMO.

Our spine really does suck, Macca is good without being great, Norman is better than Hoffman at fullback but that isn't saying much. Hoffman has been a complete disappointment this year. Wallace, well I don't think there's any hope for him anymore, Hunt is ok, he may be a lot better next year which is what I'm hoping for.

I don't want to sack Hook but I am fast losing faith in him. The free fall this season has been as bad as any of the free falls the club has had

Re: Sack Griffin

Imagine if we'd sacked Bennett the first time he didn't take the club to the finals.

Re: Sack Griffin

Our record of stupid sackings is well known....after all, we let go, forced out the worlds best coach, replaced him with a first grade novice, and performed like a badly trained seal ever since. That novice no longer coaches and we are no longer the famous Broncos. Now we are just that team from Brisbane, run of the mill, ordinary, average.Potential yes, performance no.

No hope for him anymore? He was our best earlier in the year ffs.

We aren't ****ken manly or the storm or the bulldogs, we simply aren't this top 4 side you all seem to think we are and to make this thread is pretty piss weak.

Re: Sack Griffin

From 1998-2011 we were blessed with players who may eventually become immortals (one that definitely will). We were also blessed with arguably the best coach in the history of the game.

We are not in that position anymore. It was always going to be a challenge, and despite the fact some people may not want to admit it, we have shown some good signs this season. Sacking the coach is not the answer, in fact it's a ridiculous suggestion. Nashy's previous post in this thread summed it up perfectly.

Re: Sack Griffin

Mick Hancock and Darren Smith had some interesting things to say about the club at the Leagues Club tonight.

We are waiting to hear what was said.

Any chance on elaborating, like what they actually said

Re: Sack Griffin

Where have you been these past few weeks?

Our best performances were against the Dogs + Storm. The boys turned up but things just didn't go our way. It happens to teams in our sort of form.

I am still disappointed with our desire to win, it's just not there. 2 examples from the last couple of games.

Cronk kicks to the ingoal for Slater and stops then quickly realises the ball is going to hit the post, he immediately reacts and scores. He ran past 3 Broncos who had at least 2 mtrs on him and all 3 stopped and watched.

Last night Brett Stewart chased a chip and Norman briefly held him up, certainly long enough for the cavalry to arrive but Hunt just stopped and looked.

When you rewatch games you start to see these tell tale signs, they are signs of a side that doesn't want it enough.

Re: Sack Griffin

Dex - Manly game we were busted.

Melbourne game is what happens when you just don't have any confidence. Players had no idea what the play was and the bounce off the post totally con-fuddled them

Re: Sack Griffin

It's not as if he hasnt tried putting players in different positions ie bench to starter and vice versa.

We just don't have it this year

Both those examples the attacking players made it happen, we looked on and hoped it didn't.

Re: Sack Griffin

No doubt about the Manly game, but that's coming off 2 weeks of our best efforts coming up short. Confidence was absolutely shot so the enthusiasm wasn't where it needed to be.

Cronk's play is always going to bamboozle sides, even the Bulldogs at their best would react similarly. It's just an anomoly with our game where the attacking player will always have the ascendency.
