Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

Griffin still has to go. Playing Hoffman at 6 alone is a good enough reason

What, because we're one win and a bye outside the top 4?

Can anyone say "jumping the gun"?

No one has suggested nor has that article suggested that griffin is staying, just that Bennett might not be the best alternative to replace him

We may still want to replace Griffin, but we just don't see Bennett as the best long-term option.

Some on here are getting a bit over excited about keepin Griffin on as coach. WTF WTF:motz:Still has too many negatives eg. Hunt on bench for 4 years.A winger playin 5/8. Still cant work out we have 4 on the bench. Persists with Parker as goal kicker. Game plan keep it simple 5 hit ups for a kick. Ill stop at that for now as it frustrates me that people want to keep him on as F..... coach PLEEEAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I agree with this. One good win vs Manly hasn't changed a thing. Just taken the heat off griffin for 5 mins. The game before we almost got beat by The Tigers without Farrah. Although Milf is coming next great we need a new coach that will allow Milf to do his thing along with Barba. Griffin will just tell Milf to put on weight and play the percentage plays. After nearly 5 years of boring Footy... It would be great to play a new brand of Footy that when we win we thrash teams and score tries from inside our own half. Like the Broncos teams of old

Exciting times ahead

Show me all these posts where people are wanting him to stay? All that anyone has said is IFhe gets us into the top 4, playing THAT style of footy for the rest of the year he deserves to stay. I fail to see how a sane person can argue that.

Cool story tho

If Griffin is a good coach, we'll beat the Raiders by 20. Less than that and he needs to go.

I don't disagree with any of that. The main problem for me is that the cure might be worse than the disease. I don't want us to become a club that makes a habit of sacking coaches. If Griffin goes then that means our last two coaches have not seen out their deals. It puts us on a slippery slope and if we're not careful we'll end up with the likes of the Cowboys, Warriors etc.

Those clubs have turned sacking coaches into an art from and I believe it has infected the players' culture. Both clubs, for all the talent they've had, should have at least one premiership in the cabinet by now. I think the reason is the teams know if they have a poor season, the coach will cop the axe. Guaranteed. So they just coast by on their talent.

When Henjak was shown the door, management sided with the playing group. If they are having similar problems getting up for Griffin, I'm not so willing to think that it's the coach with the problem. I think a few players need to be shown the door before Hook this time around.

What I hope happens is that we show enough success for Griffin to make it to the end of his deal. There's a huge difference between sacking and not renewing a contract. If the team has improved then he can get an extension. If not, both parties go in other directions.

The team has improved. The issue now is too keep improving. Where we are at is not good enough. If we keep improving and win the tough matches, the ones that really count, that is Griffin's extension.

In any case, I am beginning to see a new Griffinball, where it's mainly about the ball and moving it around, offloading, forwards passing, support play and Barba and Hunt reducing Hoffman's lack of impact by improving weekly.

If that keeps happening, and the execution and commitment are there, I am all for Griffin as coach.

We've also got a couple of wins against the top sides, something we couldn't do last year.

Do you know how I know that Coach Sloth needs to go? I have watched Peter Wallace and the Panthers get around this year. And we thought the problem was Pete..... Nope not at all. Hell if you put him in the 6 for the Broncos, I am not sure we wouldn't be in the top spot at this point in the year. Telling, isn't it.

and compare it to barba too. barbs was in the mix for origin at the dogs. now he will never play origin even with the maroons current fullback crisis

Yeah Peter Wallace is playing great, however did we let him go...

Let's be grateful Pete is gone. Not only is he a mediocre player in a purple patch, but had he stayed, Ben Hunt would still be our bench hooker and Hoffman would currently be partnering Wallace in the halves.

 good point Ari.

Being completely serious for a second but if you watch Penrith, Wallace is the player driving them and for a time was virtually playing halfback and hooker. It worked for him and the team but I don't think it would work for the Broncos & I think he would have stifled Ben's game.

As far as I'm concerned it was a good move for both parties.
