Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

IMO Bennett returning can't hurt, and I see it as a plus. He knows the club, he knows what needs to be done. I think Hook has been useless since he put a Broncos jersey on, so a change is good.

If he brings Boyd with him, well I don't care, it might finally mean we see the back of Hoffman.

His recruiting policy at the Knights was Boyd, Scott and over 30's. if he comes back he better fucking change that policy

Parker is paid to captain the side, nothing more. I don't see how any of this concerns him. If the reports about White are true, I can see why they left him out of the loop. He reminds me of the kid that threatens to take his bat and ball home if he doesn't get his way.

I'm sure the board are smart enough to know they will need a succession plan, and they will have one. They are not total idiots..

IMO, every single coach of the Broncos is going to be compared to Bennett. Bennett played a very huge part in Broncos becoming the club they are.

He won't need that policy because the Broncos develop their own players pretty well. He needed to sign old guys because Newcastle is a shit hole and there wasn't a lot of talent on the market.

They weren't smart enough to make a succession plan after he nearly left to the Roosters.

They've had 6 fucking years to make some sort of plan to move on from Bennett ... and what does it look like they do, go running straight back to them as soon as he becomes available (and i'm also talking about reports they tried to get him back after sacking Henjak).

I doubt they will be smart enough this time either and in 3 years when Bennett retire ... they will be shocked and trying to figure out what to do, and we will get some other useless coach.

Hahah good one!

oh.. ur serious....

De Vere was 21 years old when he signed with the Broncos, wasn't he?

He means that game where Devere returned for 10 minutes in 08 I think, and then retired again.

As i said in another thread, the best way to get over your ex, isnt trying to get back with them, its to sleep with someone else. Getting bennett back is fucking stupid, and thats putting it nicely

Why would you want to move away from the ex that lead you to the most successful period of your life?

It's like you are going out with a chick and during this time you are the CEO of a massive company, hugely respected and raking in the big bucks.

She leaves you and the next chick comes along and is a massive bitch, makes you leave all your friends and scares away any new ones. Also sees you lose your job and start flipping burgers at maccas

You leave her and hook up with a boring but safe girl after fearing for your life with the previous. Things go alright for a few years, your now manager of the maccas and are paying the bills but not much else, all of a sudden the first girl comes back into your life with an offer to take you to the top again, who you gonna go home with?

Post of the decade.

Awesome way of putting it.

I just thought of that this morning and i think that may be a reality now (if Hooks has been sacked). not many sacked coaches finish out the year.

and before people come out and say things like "yeah but it doesn't have to happen". this is reality and it will if hooks leaves immediately.

Thats alright, we can lose McGuire and Bennett can continue his sign anyone over 30 policy and bring Mason with him.

------------

I heard Parker on the radio this morning and it seems like he knows nothing about it... so if it has happened, then the board have kept both the club CEO (from all reports) and the club captain in the dark about this.

that is NOT how a professional club acts. our professionalism as a club is one of the things that has set us apart from other clubs.

------------

I hope the Sydney media have leaked this, so that the deal falls through, similar to what happened when the Bennett to Roosters deal was leaked.

-------------

I also hope i'm wrong and that Bennett not only wins us a premiership, which many of you just assume he will. but the club can actually move on from him next time and were not set back all the efforts we have made over the last 6 years to move on from him. but i fear that when he retires we will have to start from scratch again and every new coach gets compared to Bennett.

Well Moose can go then.

For a bloke who has done absolutely nothing in the game as yet (and makes crucial errors and gets found out when he's put up against bigger forward packs), he's getting a bit cocky.

He's a bloke who could learn a heap about consistency and effort from Bennett.

This is spot on. We havent got over the last bennett reign yet and instead of trying to, we just take him back.

We are like a pathetic, lonely single fella who cant get over his beautiful, fun loving ex. We have tried, but we just keep comparing new girls to her. Its been a long and hard journey, but we feel like, finally, we have begun to get over her. We have grown. We have begun to forget.
Meanwhile, she has gone off, had flings and got all the partying out of her system. Now shes back and wants to settle down. Foolishly, we take her back

Or you could look at it more long term...

Will we get along great this time? Who knows, maybe, maybe not. But if she leaves again, and we know she will, will we be able to get over it quickly or will it just be worse this time

the guy is 65 fucking years old. at most he has 3 years left in him.

and using your analogy about Maccas, when he does retire, it will like be going from being manager of maccas again to taking out the garbage.

this signing is short sighted at best. they need a coach that can both rebuild the club and be around for the long hall.

I really like and agree with this part of a Paul Malone article in the courier mail. and if we can't get a coach in the Hasler mould, then this would be our best option.

s it stands, here are three questions for the Broncos board:Who is the best emerging coach outside first grade? Who is the Trent Robinson of 2015?
If they are convinced Griffin is not the man to make the Broncos contenders again, then why not that coach?

He’d be the sort of man looking for an opportunity, the way a 36-year-old Bennett was when Canberra made him co-coach in the 1987 season.
The Raiders made their first grand final in Bennett’s only year there.
Broncos director Darren Lockyer spoke as much sense as anyone when he suggested nine days ago that “the only way the club will move on from Wayne is if it becomes successful without him’’.

Error Page

and in answer to those questions posted by Malone, i think the Walker brothers from Ipswich fit the bill perfectly

Yeah I agree with this. I love moose and hope he stays of course, but the last thing we need is this kind of grand standing from players.

awkward how Thorn helped us win a premiership and how Henjak signed Devere.
