Lol so something that was speculated on Bhq yesterday, or was it today? Something new eh petey?
Prices are either based on reports or wild guesses.
2022.
Movements:
Milford ($1m) -> A Reynolds ($750k)
Oates ($500k) -> Hynes ($400k)
Staggs ($300k) -> Taupau ($600k)
Niu offer $300k or -> Opacic ($300k)
Glenn ($250k+one club bonus): out
Turpin: re-sign
Dearden: re-sign
Coates: re-sign
Asiata: re-sign
Piakura: re-sign
All contracts 2-3 years and all re-signings dependent on the amounts being reasonable. I would also look again at moving on Lodge as he is on $700k until the end of 2024 with 2 of those being player options - which is completely insane.
1. Hynes
2. Isaako
3. Farnworth
4. Niu/Opacic
5. Coates
6. Dearden
7. Reynolds (GK/VC)
8. Taupau (C)
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Pangai
12. Riki
13. Asiata
14. Lodge/Flegler
15. Bullimor
16. Piakura
17. Carrigan
Piakura, Riki, Haas, Carrigan, Bullimore are the long term core of the forwards. Marty to captain and mentor for 2 years while Carrigan develops into the future captain. Hynes on a 2 year deal to either show he is a long term option or explore the market, develop youth such as Cobbo. Dearden to transition into dominate play maker with Reynolds contract ending in 3 years - have a plan for the type of player Dearden should be partnered with. Keep an eye on upcoming hookers and snag one that can develop into a Turpin replacement.
5 year plan that can be put in place in 2022 and take us straight back into the top 8.
Well it got to the stage in 2019 where O'Sullivan was the one out there barking orders for the boys to get their act straight during a match when in goal after conceding a number of soft tries, you wouldn't have known any of the senior players were there.Same can be said about Alex Glenn. Hardly see him rallying the troops when that 10 minute brain explosion was happening in the first half. He’s great at telling the boys “one set” though after every error.
Courier Fail article indicating that Bennett has confirmed he will be living in Brisbane permanently next year ... theres several quotes in the article and I'm sure our man @McHunt will give us the run down in a new thread soon enough.
He's quoted that he's coming back as a "free agent"... so basically hasn't confirmed anything with anyone.
Broncos should absolutely go hard to sign Bennett as a coaching director or whatever is required to bring him back.
- He has pull in the player market... and you know he would be hanging around the training paddock most days. Not taking over training just talking to players, etc.
- It removes the threat of Bennett coaching Brisbane 2.0 in 2023
- It relieves Kevvie so he can just coach. Someone mentioned the other day that Kevvie is having to get involved in retention discussions with players and taking his attention away from the coaching... yes you want your coach involved in discussions, but given how inept our R&R appears to be he's probably doing a shit ton of work in the discussions
- Positive / Nostalgia associated with Bennett and the rightful position that everything should've worked towards when his contract was last expiring
It would be a hard one for them to justify not going for given they are proposing millions for Bellamy to do basically the exact same thing.... except I would think Bennett would do it better than himThe only thing that could stop it happening is the same problem that rears it heads every time, the guys who got rid of him are mostly still all there.

Broncos should absolutely go hard to sign Bennett as a coaching director or whatever is required to bring him back... I would actually prefer Bennett coming back rather than making a similar play for Bellamy

- Our culture and attitude is dead and gone, but Bennett will revitalise that, which is one of the biggest factors in professional sport nowadays

So we should be pushing harder to get Morris out. He does nothing that literally any other somewhat qualified person couldn’t do. This club could literally run itself better if they named Buck as whatever it is Morris is. He’s not needed and right now Bennett is needed to improve this clubMorris is still holding the knife that he used on Bennett's back, I would love it to happen but there would have to be a whole lot of eggs to be wiped off faces to come true.
