It’s way easier said than done but it would be great if we found a way to get the ball in Cobbo’s hand more than Walsh’s on Rick returns. The should shuffle throughout the game so the kickers aren’t sure where Walsh will be. Cobbo’s kick returns are such an asset

Except there is. Coachable players don’t walk out on their team when the team is losing and they’re in the stands. Coachable players don’t talk shit about the coach not being able to coach. Do you think his thought process was that he was listening to absolutely everything the coach said when he thought he had no idea?

I’m hoping he has recently or will continue to pull his head in, but to say there’s no evidence of laziness or that he hasn’t been lazy, or that he’s been super coachable is absolute bullshit.

Hayne is a good example of what you’re saying- Hayne beating four guys and scoring a try shouldn’t cancel out the fact he was late again and eating Hungry Jacks when he did wander in.

Eventually it all caught up with him and the effort to coach him and have him at your club didn’t equal his ability anymore.

I’ve done a fair bit of coaching myself in various sports, league being one of them and I can tell you there are many different criteria for coachability. How a player responds when the going gets tough is a huge one. NFL, NBA and MLB scouts will often watch players in games where they’re predicted to lose specifically to see how they respond to losing or adversity. You guys are severely underplaying the comments made last year about the team he plays for because it doesn’t suit what you want to think of the “kid”.

Exactly, and for now he’s getting a pass from everyone because he’s young and still doing good things on the field. And I keep saying this, I hope it changes because he has a lot of natural talent but very little drive.

I know NRL scouts that get to Meninga games to watch warm up to see if he encourages his team mates or helps with water bottles.

Few reckon warm up is a great reveller.

Hodges was different; he wasn’t late or lazy but if he thought his hammy was tight he couldn’t run that day- sorry coach. Hodges also knew exactly how to be right for 7:30 Friday and he wasn’t doing it at 19.

Something Cobbo has also done. Dean Widders said it’s difficult for these kids who come from their small towns with their families to the big city and when things get tough they just go home because it’s what they know. He did it at quite an important time for the club last year and I hope it doesn’t become a habit.

How did it catch up with Hayne? Not factoring in off field stuff here or post-NFL because there could be any number of reasons he bombed, one of them very much being at the Titans.

Henry couldn’t stand him and released him a year early, goes back to the Eels plays 15 games and they didn’t want him. Rugby and NFL didn’t work- no one would touch him.
