COMP SVRL Expression of Interest

I am very, very tempted to make a comeback... just don't know if I would have the time to do it justice. If you guys are still short in a week or so, holla at me.

@Clintos' post is bang on, by the way. It is surprisingly exciting for something that is played via a forum.

On an unrelated note, how good are forums! FB can get fucked, forums for life!

Join again @ningnangnong I’ll even give you Alex Glenn to sweeten the deal.

So just to clarify the scoring system..

Payne Haas plays 80 minutes, has 24 hit-ups for 284 metres, with 47 tackles, 3 line-breaks and 18 tackle busts - Finishes with 4 SVRL points

Corey Paix plays 5 minutes, has 1 hit-up for 3 metres with 2 tackles, but crashes over for a try - Finishes with 4 SVRL points

Is that right? 👀

Yep, but Haas does it every week without fail.

Yeah that's my point, wouldn't it make more sense if he could.. I dunno.. score more than 4 points? 😂

From a realistic coaching sense, the stat's you mentioned above from Haas would bring the Broncos 0 points in a real NRL game.

This way it's closer to reality, while still providing the forwards of some scoring sense. Instead of 82 fantasy points, he gets his team the equivalent of a try and moves on.

It makes sense when you play it @Unbreakable . I was a bit the same, but once you play a bit, it’s no real difference to SC vs NRL Fantasy etc. it just doesn’t reward every single stat. Also it doesn’t take points off so there’s that.

First seasons are usually a bit hit-and-miss unless you have a stroke of luck, second season is a lot more fun as you’ll know who to draft earlier or who is a good sleeper on the waiver.

In the NRL, Paix finishes with 4 points and Haas finishes with a big fat zero. No scoring system in better or worse, they're just different.

I'm aware how many points is given for a try in the NRL..

It's just that predominantly in fantasy sports a scoring system is implemented that rewards and prioritises the best players each week. As you said, it's just different. I'm not really mocking it, I suppose it would be cool to have Nick Meaney and Tyrone Roberts be more valuable than Payne Haas or something.

Your forward tries are the base of your score. Then you build on it with tries, goals and TAs. Haas is a lock for a FT every week so that makes him far more valuable than most backs.

How could they be? Haas gets (on avg) 10% of your points for the year, possibly more. Meaney may get 2% with tries, if you’re lucky.

Oh? I thought it was 2 points per goal kicked lol, my bad.

It is, but Bulldogs have to first pick Meaney as GK, then they have to score tries (lol), then you have to nominate Meaney to be your primary GK (lol).

Oh, you only get 1 goal kicker per team? Didn't know that. Wouldn't that make Moses insanely good? All the try assists, goals, and occasional meat pies and 40/20's.
