THE NSW Origin team have snubbed the victims of the Victorian bushfires - turning up 1½ hours late for a kids' coaching clinic in Melbourne.

In an embarrassing blunder for the game, many of the 320 school children from the fire-ravaged Kinglake, Marysville, Alexandra and Thornton communities were forced to pass Steedens among themselves as they waited in freezing conditions for the Blues to arrive.

The late arrival earned an immediate rebuke from Queensland halfback Johnathan Thurston, whose side had turned up on time for the clinic near Princes Park despite having to travel two hours from their rural Nagambie Lakes base.

Asked if it was "poor form" from the Blues, Thurston let fly.

"Definitely. If they are staying here in Melbourne, why are they two hours late? This is grassroots. I think they could have been here on time."

.....

Asked why they were late, Wing said: "We've been training pretty hard and we just took longer than expected and had to high-tail it out here. We misjudged how long our bus trip would take."

That is really poor form by the Blues. and for Wing to say they misjudged how long the trip would take is just CRAP. how can you misjudge a trip by 1 1/2 hours. As i said POOR FORM... the Maroons made it to their training clinic and they are staying 2 hours away.

POOR FORM NSW

Pretty piss weak, the worst thing is the Maroons had to wait so the Blues could stay back longer and try to mend the damage they did.

That's a pretty pathetic effort from N.S.W.

Pretty unforgivable when you consider rugby league is still trying to establish itself in Melbourne. **** ups like this are not what you want to hear about.

Plus Gallen spent the whole thing behind the scoreboard talking on his mobile...CLASSY!

Get over it. They've said sorry, they even stuck around for a longer to make up for it a bit. Seems like the kids were happy in the end, so no big deal.

Shit happens.

They cut into QLD's time with the kids in staying back. I think Bellamy has an air of arrogance about him and I think things like this and the reaction afterwards plus the fact the NSW team choose a mansion over more modest accommodation shows the Blues mindset. If I was from NSW I would be very concerned.

POOR FORM NSW
- plus the good players (Wallace, Campo & Robs) didn't even show up
- hey at least Gallen ignored the kids, who know what racisist, sexual abuse he could have gotten up to!! [icon_wink

You do realise it will be one of the biggest upsets in Origin history if your tards win right? If I were you I would be content to beat the margin bet.

Seriously Rock, if you are so easily able to go "meh" about this public relations nightmare generated by the NSW State of Origin team then you simply don't give a **** about rugby league.

The whole reason QLD and NSW alternately sacrifice an Origin home game to take to Melbourne is to promote the game down there. Getting to meet the players and get a feel for the game is how they can sell the game in this foreign market.

If the players and team management of NSW care so little about it as to arrive 2 hours late to such a function, why the **** are Queensland bothering to give up their home ground advantage? We might as well just say "**** you Melbourne, you're not worth bringing rugby league to" and we can all get on with it.

Paint it anyway you like, but Bellamy and his entourage have fucked the game over, yet again. Honestly, if it's not manipulating the rules to make the game as boring as possible, it's simply neglecting the grassroots.

He's a ****.

I like this post.

Well said.

This incident has set the tone for the Blues game on Wednesday night. They will start playing the game 90 mins late in the dressing sheds with Joey and the gang.

You're right. I don't give a shit about rugby league.....in Melbourne.

Anyone who doesn't know where The Rock is from does so now - typical arrogant, head up your own arse Sydney attitude. No wonder league is dying in your state

Well when the clubs in Sydney in the premier competition in the country are almost all bleeding money some to the point of near of extinction what do you call it?
