Tesi Niu

Dosen't make it acceptable, especially when it's someone learning their trade. But hey
maybe I just have better morals, and feel we should back our young players instead of giving them shit.

I dunno if it's morals, but if that makes you feel good, sure.

I bet he doesn't cop nearly as much shit in qcup, because his 'talent' is expected there.

I think we'll be having this same conversation next season and it will be regarding Walsh.

As for Tesi, he's been dropped to QLD Cup, I hope they've given him some specific things to improve on defensively. It's been a rough year for him and people are quick to forget that he's only 18th months older than Ezra Mam who himself isn't shy of the occasional monumental **** up (kicks out on the full, being his go to), however he's given a pass mark due to his age.

We're quick to forget that he's only 20 years old, probably because he was brought into the top grade so early under Seibold. This isn't Isaako who had a good half dozen years in the NRL and still found a way be hopeless. Anywho, it's done now.

TMM will be an improvement defensively but I still stand by my comments that we aren't winning any of the games in recent weeks with TMM instead of Tesi, Tesi didn't cost us those games, he's just the easy target. There will be a new easy target moving forward, probably the coach (despite the fact the season has already been a success).

A lot of speculating in this post. Mam gets a pass because he is a really intelligent player who has a good grasp on his role for his age and experience but fails at times, in execution. He isn’t a player who has had played 30+ games and hasn’t demonstrated any grasp of the fundamentals of his position.

Walsh has shown an impressive understanding of his role but again, requires development in the execution. That’s not to say that either Ezra or Walsh may benefit from more time in cup but it’s a different conversation.

If it was boxing you could say that Ezra and Walsh need to hone their techniques, pick their punches better, improve their footwork, learn how to conserve energy. While in this analogy you would say Tesi needs to stop putting his hands behind his back and kicking.

Its not that at all. Its simply he isn't cut out to be an NRL fullback in a top team. Hes 21 and had 3 seasons in the top squad.

I think Walsh was massively over hyped last year, most ex broncos that we have "missed/lost" get that the 1st few years they leave us, but he is still way ahead of niu.
Even though he is getting targeted and found out a lot more this year (surprise, surprise Nathan brown) and he's playing in a very, very poor performing team he has still performed enter than niu.
I have no doubt questions will be asked about Walsh next year and the year after, particularly regarding defence. But I think it will be Walsh vs TMM regrets, not "maybe we should pick niu". They aren't even in the same league.
Niu makes poor decisions consistently in attack and defence. Of course he is still young but he is older than Walsh, mam and cobbo I believe. He's had multiple extended runs and chances in his proffered position. If he is truly a gun he can re-earn it in qld cup after showing CONSISTENT performances over an extended period...

how is people bagging out Tesi, different from when you have bagged out other players/coaches/management in the past.

this is a fan forum ... and people are always going to post their opinions on players skills and performances ... and sometimes those opinions are going to be negative.

Are you a 2nd year apprentice ?
If Tesi is in the apprentice category, you want your apprentice doing all the little things right like show up to work on time which would be the defensive side of the game, which in most cases he's coming late or non existence.
You want your second year to be able to tell other blokes on site what's going on and have an idea of where things need to go.
Tesi is showing up for lunch and smoko which is the attacking fun part.

He needs to get the basics right in both sides of his game and that's done in Qcup (1st year apprentice)

how is giving a kid shit an opinion?
weak is sitting behind a computer hanging shit on someone trying his best. like I said shit ****
So as long as they try hard, you can't have any criticism? Do you think teams who miss the finals should get a trophy?

League player isn't an apprenticeship. Once you're picked, you're qualified.

So just to be sure, if we went through your 7000 odd posts on this forum, not one would be critical of a young player, even when they are in poor form?

Think you're deluding yourself here champion. Once again, I don't think anyone has personally insulted tesi or his family which I think everyone would agree is way outta line.

Being young isn't an infallible shield against criticism if you aren't playing well.

I'm all for not giving our younger players shit and giving them time to develop.

However he's being paid good money, but yet he still struggles with basic skills like catching high bombs or getting his positioning right when defending and there's no sign of improvement. That tends to rub people the wrong way.

read my posts , nothing wrong with criticism and opinions but people have gone past that and are just paying out on him. I find it weak to hang shit on people behind a computer.
