The Ashes 2010-2011

Poor shot from Hughes but he batted well up until then. He showed improvement in his technique which was also good. He will only get better.

So typical of him at this stage of his career.

Usman certainly knows how to say g'day...

Don't want to jinx him, but geez Khawaja looks comfortable out there. Just looks like he has so much time.

I'm in Healy's mind. He's bagging Watson. Lol

Healy is a moron and it seems you might be to. [icon_drun

When did Watson actually start getting recognised as a 'good' player? I still think he's as sus as they come.

He is a good player. But like most Gen Y players he lacks the ability to dig in and make a big innings. Plus he's too worried about how he looks and is generally a sooky la la. Can't cop him.

But if he keeps batting, bowling and fielding as he is then he deserves to be one of the first picked in the team. I just hope we unearth some genuine opening bats so he can go down to 4 or 5 where he belongs.

There are 2 genuine opening bats around one is Hughes and the other is Maddison both from NSW. Watson still won't get moved down the order though.

Not until Hughes shows some ticker and Maddinson develops further.

Watson again with a start and ***** it up. Man, he's not an opener.

Clarke out slashing one in the air on 4.

Same old.

Pathetic shot from Clarke.

He has not been able to let the ball go all summer. Pathetic really. [icon_thumbs_do

That's one of his big problems, definitely. Yet the debutant at the other end has selected his shots beautifully to date and has made a solid start as a result. Pup's way out of form at the moment, no doubt, but he's always had that trait. It's a friggen worry that he still hasn't learned.

biggest problem is that he hits the ball in the air all the time... He smashed that cut shot but straight to gully. Same as last time he was dropped because he couldn't hit the ball along the ground.

Yep, you know he's f**ked when he starts spraying them to blokes square of the wicket. I can remember during his last bad run that I lost count of the amount of times he tonked them to point and short mid-wicket. It was ridiculous.

I spose we can say he's due now, lol. He needs a Hussey-like turnaround, that's for sure.

I think that is the dilemma for the selectors. Clarke has clearly been earmarked as the next captain but at the time when he could be needed to replace Punter he is in his worst possible form. I was really hoping Clarke scored runs so we saw the end of Punter and his captaincy.
