The Ashes 2013/14

For sure. but some of the journos (Hi Ben Dorries) have been ridiculous.

Of course they have. After the win the media has been way over the top. Lets try and be realistic.

Trots stress leave (depression or something similar) puts Cooks whinge about Warner's comments into context

Jonathan Trott has pulled out of the tour due to a stress related illness.
I thought this was a joke at first. Just goes to show how fragile the guy is . He always gives the impression that nothing affects him. I guess That's the nature of depression.

I like Trott. One of their better players over the last couple of series. I will never forget his play to run out Katich. I think it was at the Adelaide Oval last time around. There was probably never a run in it but Trott scooped the ball up on the fly, stopped for a split second to set himself and fired it at the stumps. Terrific cricket from England. Shortly after that Australia were reeling at 3/10 with no chance to recover.

Not to take anything away from Australia, who were tremendous, but England looked far too complacent in the first test. I'm predicting they will come back stronger. Too many class players for them not too.

Yes. I agree. I would love to write them off as front runners but they've had a fair bit of substance of late . Swann and the 3rd seamer is a worry for them though.

Even Anderson bowled pretty ordinary in the first test.

Sooky bloody Poms

Whinging about being sledged by the Aussies ..... puhleeease

So Clarke gets fined for suggesting Mitch Johnson's bowling is gonna break his fucking arm after little Jamesy crys to the ref

Yet, the little hero Anderson himself tells George Bailey he's 'going to punch him' and he gets nothing. Nice work

The problem was that Channel Nein forgot to turn down the stump mikes at that moment.

If nobody but the players and umpires heard what was said then none of this broo-ha-ha would be happening.

Either way this is all incredibly childish from England. I mean if you were at high school and ran to your cricket coach and said "sir, tommy told me to get ready for a broken arm when Steve bowls to me" the coach would tell you just to either get out of the way or smack the ball other his head. Yet in professional cricket, a game that used to be played by actual men we have this whole fiasco

The reaction after the first test has a 'NSW during Origin' feel about it. Just remember what NSW were like after winning the first game in Sydney this year and either last year or the year before that. They were all cocky and were talking about winning the series and having finally worked out how to beat QLD.

England are a seriously good team and have proven match winners in their side. You know KP is going to pull out one massive innings in the series and it could be a match winning one. Cook will only get better on the less bouncy pitches of Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. And I couldn't believe my own eyes at the better Root looked as his 2nd innings went on.

The Aussies will most likely win in Perth, but as it stands England only need to win one more test and draw the rest or win at least two of Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney and rely on a draw in the other one.

It will be a great series and the fact the 1st and 2nd tests aren't back-to-back probably work in England's favour.

Who cares. It's been so long . I'm enjoying our win . I must say poms have some problems . Swann ? Jury's out. Third seamer??. Trotts replacement another newbies we need to take this opportunity.

I'm not saying don't enjoy it. I 'm just saying the enjoyment should be measured. We're just as likely to be 6/40 at lunch or England 0/340 at stumps on the first day in Adelaide.

That's the good thing though, we smashed England and know we can now. NSW only just beat Qld even though Qld were horrible. Very different results. Plus Qld then went and got serious, looking at the press England went and got touristy. Australia needs to push home the advantage. Even if a draw in Adelaide, make an intimidatory one.

Australia hasn't lost a series after winning Brissy since the early 1950s, even more telling stat.

So much intrigue in this Test, Adelaide traditionally a batsman’s utopia could be even more so now. The decision at the toss will be a no brainer. Over the last 10 years the team that has batted first in Adelaide has scored an average 473.

Interesting though in the Shield this year 28 wickets have fallen to spinners and 23 to seam at Adelaide. So it still is breaking up at the end of games. Lyon and Swan both have good records there in Tests. Lyon 25.1 average and Swann 23. It's going to be back breaking for fast bowlers.

Three batsman in this Test average 100+ in Adelaide which has to be Test rarity- Clarke 100.82, Haddin 122 and Pieterson 129. Watson, Warner, Cook and Bell all average 50.

Red seats behind the bowlers arm are a nice touch from the new stadium.
