My only worry is with GI to fullback, are the centres weakened? Especially with Hodges, or would the achilles problem he's carrying and the quiet game he played on wednesday be irrelevant if Chambers can do the job?

I am pretty confident Slater and Smith will be right to play. Slater was bloody outstanding on Wednesday night. Smith was down on his best and TBH he has been all year. Really need Smith and JT to lift for the 2nd game. I can see Thaiday coming in for Cronk and us going with 4 forwards on the bench.

Would be great if Slater was fit to play, but surely he can't be. I don't know the latest but he was initially told 2-3 weeks, QLD would be complacent to throw him in with no games beforehand

I reckon he will get himself fit in time easily and will play another big game.

I don't doubt he will either.....he'll then go on to miss the games for his club after Origin 2 and be right again for Origin 3. That's my point. As a Sharks fan you'd have to be pissed.

How bad is it that Guerra and Te'o were on the field for 2 minutes less than Papalii yet they made 3 times the metres... Numbers don't lie.
I just don't get why Meninga would bring him in when he admitted he wasn't in form. Surely if they're on the fence about the player, they shouldn't take the risk

DCE is expecting to play next week (forget where I read it, Fox Sports probably) so should be fine for #2.

We're still blooding our younger guys [MENTION=8664]Qlder88[/MENTION] - Big Papa especially, it was only his second game I think? One of our strengths is that we are so dominant over the Blues the last few years we can afford to carry players to some extent. That gap, as much as Blues fans will argue has closed, is still there - we were without our freaking halfback for 75 minutes, our hooker was on one leg for 40 and our #6 played very ordinarily, yet we were still a whisker from winning and could have closed it out. No doubt they will be better with Fifita and Bird coming back, but we are still a class above if the guys all play to their potential. Even without Cronk. I don't necessarily agree with carrying the younger guys, but it's to some extent a necessary evil and it's worked OK to date with the good run we've had injury-wise.

Very interested to see the squad named in a couple of weeks...big test not only for the team, but the coaching staff as well as some of those combinations and understanding will not be there with Cronk out. All involved need to stand up, or Game 3 will be a dead rubber. I'm confident we CAN do it. Jury's still out on whether I think we WILL at this stage, though I'd love to see it happen!

If Smith doesn't play hooker for whatever reason then Friend simply can't be the option any more. He was when Cronk was half but now DCE is half Ballin has to be the direct replacement should anything prompt us to have a new #9.

Defence is the thing he actually did right. 37 tackles, only 1 missed. NSW was beating our left edge, not our right.

His defence was great. Can't remember how many exactly but made a heap of tackles and I didn't see anyone get through him.
