Lets be honest here, Melbourne aren't that good, They've just been absoultely blessed from the gods with rarely if any injuries to there key players for the past 3 years straight.

Honeslty, I can't remember the last time slater(besides suspension), smith, cronk or for that matter anyone thats important to there team been out for a extended period as in 6 weeks +

We always seem to loose our important players for long periods.

If we weren't crippled in 07 we may of very well went back to back.

Melbourne ARE that good - simply because they are well drilled, and want to win.

They have rarely any injuries, If we always had hodges, hunt, lockyer, caroll, hannat, clinton, etc etc always on the field together pretty much for 3 seasons straight we could beat melbourne too.

We have NO STRUCTURE.

End of story.

Why do you think we have no structure? How many interruptions have we had this year? Melbourne on the other hand have had their 1,7,9 pretty much every game this season, plus inglis and falou have barely missed a match. It's no wonder their going so well. You take Cameron Smith out of their side for half the season (ie Lockyer) and see how well they do.

Take Inglis or Falou out for 10 weeks of the season, same story.

We should learn instead of making fu**ing excuses.

I beg to disagree.

A team revolves around a game plan, well drilled attack and defence, passion and commitment - and the rest follows.

That's why the Storm are where they are and we where we are.

Of course - injuries and idiotic suspensions take their toll, but imo, league is a team game first - not some arena for individual brilliance.

So basically you're saying if I took Cameron Smith or Cooper Cronk out of the Storm they'd still be winning week in week out because they play like a "team"?

So what about during Origin when they lost 3 games without their key players, weren't they playing like a team?

LOLZ.

The quote pyramid returns!!!

This thread in a nutshell;

Hammo; "Storm, doubt they can be beaten. How do you reckon we would beat them"
BHQ; "I think the Broncos are the only team that can beat them"
Hammo; "Yes ok, but how?"
broncospwn; "Storm aren't that good, just got no injuries"
rnabakov; "Storm are well drilled"
broncospwn; "yes, however they get no injuries, they lucky"
rnabakov; "we have no structure. Brisbane is over. Put Hunt in pack, stop making excuses. Sack everyone, sack Bennett, Broncos are doomed"

rnabakov; There is no doubt Storm are well blessed with natural talent (that is the term or you people who use "X factor" are looking for). What renouf and broncospwn are trying to explain to you, which is in fact a rather commonly held belief, is that Storm have been lucky with next to no injuries or suspensions.

Is it that hard an idea to entertain??

FTR, without C. Smith and Cronk, they would win sometimes, but they wouldn't beat Manly.

rna makes a valid point, but at the end of the day you take their key players out of the team for an extended period and they will struggle. And this has been our problem all season

You can put 2 things down to Melbournes great success

1) Well drilled team
2) Very little in the way of injuries for the past 3 seasons

Spot on mate.

You might have won your $100 - well ... still in a bit of doubt, but we ain't going any further than the 1st game of the finals.

Go figure.

Point is in origin they got thrashed without there stars, Yet, we've had 10 players out at a time many seasons especially in 07, I can't remember when cam smith and cooper cronk were last injured let alone both injured at the same time, If smith does his ACL, Storm won't win the competition.

Great side. Love watching them play. Exciting, well drilled, play for each other..............
They may have lost during Origin when they had most of their team out but look at the position they have on the ladder and the p/d to boot.

Manly had the luxury of not losing the amount of players Storm did and got to win those games in that period the same as Sharks did. Yet they are pushing to get that minor premiership with the Storm.

I think the coaches do the working out on how to beat each team [eusa_doh

Sick of people calling them the dirtiest team in the league to. Even 'cough' Brett Finch said the other night that Storm were no different in the tackling tactics to any other team and how great they were. (sucking he was)
I personally think the Sharks are worse with the wrestle tackle and Dragons were pretty damn good at it last night to/.
Who the hell was No.14? Dirty little grub.

STORM Grand Final again 2008

Regardless of anything else you have to play hard and really get into them early. Every time they have been beaten (bar Origin-less matches) in recent years the opposition have ripped into them early and it can really push them back on their heels.

Oh come on - they lost half their team.
