The Wayne Bennett Super thread!

Just thought I'd make an appearance in this thread to reiterate.... I was wrong.....so very very very wrong. Bennett has done exceptionally well this year. Milford and hunt are the best halves combo without a doubt and teddy Blair is playing like a grizzly Blair! Boyd is playing brilliantly as well. I really can't see a Broncos loss next week. only weakness is reed, but oniell shouldn't worry him too much.

Well done wayne, well done

Well done to you for having the maturity to come in and admit you were wrong. Classy.

From guess who.

In fairness, Griffin deserves SOME credit.

However, this line of thinking ignores the changes Bennett made to the squad. He brought in two very good buys in Boyd and Blair, while moving on Hoffman, Barba, Kennedy, Garbutt and Hala who were proving to be unwanted distractions. Without Bennett, I couldn't see Corey Oates playing on the wing, nor Nikorima on the bench.

Griffin could have done all of those positive things as an assistant coach. Just because he was a head coach doesn't mean he did something extraordinary that does credit to the role. He only marginally improved the state of the club after Henjak......Congrats?

It's always baffled me to know their are and were critics of having Wayne Bennett back at the club.

How in the world could anybody not of wanted Wayne at our club after the last few years of mediocrity?

It's mind boggling that their were or are doubters about his return... but, what do they think now?

Wayne's coaching record says it all, I knew he was the only man who could get us back to the top of the mountain, nobody else was ready & now, he can finally groom his next in charge prior to his retirement and let the natural progression keep rolling forward.

True believers.

We will win the Grand Final, with or without Hodgo.

True believers.

I was going to post a kudos to Griffin thread yesterday because he does deserve credit for the squad he left behind including signing Milf, BUT, his coaching stunk. It was just sooooooo basic, he took Bennet ball and dumbed it down.

Whoever wrote the article is a massive dickhead, it's obvious he just wants to heap shit on WB not praise Griffin.

I wonder how the Raiders felt with the state Bennett left them after guiding them to their first grand final and helping to set them up for future success.

The worst anti-Bennett comments IMO were those criticising the club for sacking Griffin and hiring Bennett after we were thrashed by the Cowboys in the finals last year. They were saying things along the lines of "give him a fair go, 8th is a great result."

This fine club's 6 premierships did not result from an attitude of near-enough-is-good-enough. Dare to be ambitious and dream and look where it gets you.

we crawled into the finals in 2012 off the back of results going our way, 2013 was pretty pathetic and 2014 was an improvement but lets be honest, that was largely Hunt standing up and carrying the side, without him I don't even want to imagine how the side would have fared, Barba and Hoffman were dismal.

Griffin really shouldn't get much credit for leaving the team in an "okay" state, that's the least he should have been able to do as a NRL coach. He was fucking useless, we'd never win a premiership with him as coach, he couldn't even work out how to use a bench or that Hoffman should never be fullback... Or 5/8. He wasn't a shit coach that would destroy a club, he was just an average coach who would get you average results, that's not what fans want.

Didn't Bennett set up a really good junior system for the Knights 1910 has mentioned this before, and it looks like their junior team is doing very well. Tinkler had to much control at the Knights.

How did he leave St George in a bad state? He got them their first premiership in 31 years and ridded them of the choking joke to say the least. St George bidded hard to get him back for this year too!

Griffin left the club in an 'OKAY' state.

The club was left in an absolutely brilliant state when Bennett left, Henjak and Griffin went from making it Fucking Great! to borderline mediocre with a dash of bog average! -Things would have only gotten worse.

Media have a great way of spinning any words to sound like truth. My headline would be:

'Bennett rescues Griffin's obese Broncos who were in dire need of proper exercise and diet!'

PS: UH OH! -Looks like Knights supporters aren't taking the news of Bennet's success very well ;)

This is a pearler.

"I hate him too. Broncos were going so well before he came back and started making other fans hate us even more.."

edit: Wait, I think AceAv was mocking them.

Yep, spot on imo.

We did have a pretty good squad under Griffin, but WB has shown how far beyond Hook he is really.

I still don't believe we needed Boyd, and I don't think he has been particularly good in most games, albeit he certainly is playing a fantastic finals series so far, but there is no denying his importance in the team's outstanding defense, and there is no way anyone can argue against WB's choices to put Milford at 5/8 and bringing Blair to the club, which I strongly opposed for all the known reasons.

I think the most important, was the cohesion, determination and sacrifice instilled into every player and the team as a whole, and that is all Bennett's credit!
Of course, getting the extra kilos off probably helped a lot, and that brilliant goal-line defense with the fullback in the line, instead of behind it... proved very effective and frustrated the hell out of most teams.

What did surprise me completely, is how attractive our attacking footy has been, which of course is helped by the talent from Hunt and Milf, who will only get better!

If only we had a better kicking game... we would probably be the Brisbane Globe Trotters!

Wait till next year re hunt's kicking game. . That'll be his (and milf's) preseason goals

So you still maintain that we didn't need Boyd but go on to say that his importance to our outstanding defense can't be denied???

I don't understand this, and that's a consummate fact.
