I'm sure they do. What I'm saying isn't Bennett specific like you guys are trying to make out.

As a coach I think Wayne Bennett is one of the greatest coaches in Rugby League and Australian sport history. 7 premierships, 4 origin series wins, 75% win rate as national coach and his nack of maturing young men and making up and coming players into stars and also making extremley difficult desicions like cutting Wally Lewis from the Broncos is a testamony to his standing. IMO he is the 2nd greatest coach with Jack Gibson just ahead of him. I've read both biographies of the 2 and Gibson was a revolutionary and innovative adopting training methods from overseas and putting them into the Australian game, current day training methods derive from him. He also took teams that had buckleys chance of achieving anything and he made them into genuine premiership material, the Roosters could barely win a game before he coached them and he turned them into one of the greatest lineups of all-time (1974, 75) and 3 of Parramatta's premierships came under him and they were all consecutive. Even if you asked Wayne who is the greatest league coach ever he would say Jack Gibson, Jack is also one of his idols.

For a bloke who claims to give him plenty of credit you shore are quick to jump on any positive post to argue against it.

He has won 2 premierships since 2006 the same as Hasler and one more than Bellamy so on that score alone he still ranks up with the very best in the game.

He's won 5 of the last 16 so throw stats around as much as you like anyone can make them fit an argument.

Now he's started to turn Newc around you don't like it because it smacks of buying a premiership yet you'll argue that the Storm really did win those 2 premierships even though they illegally bought them.

2 premierships since 2006???

1 at the Broncs and 1 at Saints

In my opinion, Bellamy or Hasler are the benchmark. Bennett would be third.

And I'm talking about today. Bennett would be number 1, if you count his entire career.

I like Wayne B ......but he does make me wonder about some of his decisions that were involving recruitment at Brisbane. I believe he is just as responsible as Cullen or Gee regarding some of the players let go and some of the numptys he wanted to stay.

A cynical part of me makes me think he may have been slowly bleeding us years prior to his departure.

I'm not sure I'd want him back. Kinda over him.

Would rather Bellamy.....or Michael Maguire ......

Strange how ex-players from other clubs have made a formidable go at coaching, but not one ex-Brisbane player.

Part of Bennett's vacuum as well....?

It seems to be when he leaves a club, all of it's life...so to speak, has been sucked out of it.

The whole 'buying a premiership' lingo is a myth, name a premiership team that consists of only local juniors.

Wayne Bennett

Bellamy has a great history and some great structures but its hard to know just how good he is because he has an awesome spine.

What Hasler has achieved with Halves like Hodgkinson and Keating speaks volumes about his ability. For mine Hasler has shown the most adaptability and is the games best coach.

+1 Hasler ahead of Bellamy, he's shown he can coach a completely different style of team and develop a unique style for them to make them very competitive. Bellamy has coached a single team of which he cheated the salary cap to build in the first place and as a nice end result of that cheating they get to keep 3 superstars of which one of them would have probably left had they not cheated the cap in the first place.

he was found to have no knowledge of the rorting. dont know how often this has to be repeated before some people get it into their head.

A coach knows what players are being paid. It's naive to think Bellamy didn't have an idea that things were dodgy.

Doesn't matter, he still got to have a far better team than any other coach was allowed, whether he knew or not (and I'm sure he knew but that's besides the point).

it does matter because youre making out that its a fact that he knew. he was found by the investigators to have had no knowledge. the fact that you still not only believe that he did, but state that he did as if its a fact, shows your bias.

Bit of pot and kettle action here ;-)

Bellamy was Bennetts understudy unless I'm mistaken, Griffin was Bellamys understudy and Terry Matterson has made a good fist of coaching in the superleague.
