How about we measure the coaches using Peter Wallace

Pretty decent under Wayne Bennett
Pretty decent under Henjak
Pretty decent under Cleary

Lol under Griffin

Under Bennett and Henjak, he had Lockyer in the 6 ... he was decent in his first year under Griffin too, (once again with Lockyer in the 6)

Wallace is a good secondary playmaker, when he has a quality half next to him, when was called upon to be the sides main play maker, after Lockys retirement ... he crumbled.

Obviously Griffin isn't completely a killer of halves, otherwise Hunt wouldn't be playing like he is and leading the Dally M voting

Re: Wayne Bennett quits Knights... Is he coming back?

Irrelevant because it was almost 30 years ago and has nothing to do with how he won premierships in the top grade.

If you want to talk about a career then it's the whole lot, not just a tiny little window.

You made a claim about the signings the Broncos were able to make and their access to the whole state- so I would suggest that the signings at the end of 1987 as pivotal and very relevant.

while the knights have had a bad year they are still only 3 wins behind us unless we win tonight and i hate to say this but i would not be surprised if they end up finnishing ahead of us this year they look like they have hit some form

Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Just though it would be good to have a specific thread to discuss next years round 1 line up, possible signings and re-signings.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

1. Milford
2. Vidot
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Hoffman/Maranta
6. Barba
7. Hunt

Those are the guarantees, at this point. The entire forward contingent are up in the air.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

Might also be interesting to also discus will be offloaded at the end of the season.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

It honestly completely depends on how this salary cap thing goes, if it all clears up and we somehow have some cap space left, we'll no doubt end up with Darius Boyd (Even if he's only on ~200k in his first season here and then gets massive upgrades for 2016 / 2017, once we have more room)

Barba is also no sure thing to be here next season as well, I'm not entirely sure how I feel about everything at the moment, I'll just list the side that I'd most enjoy watching I think.

1. Milford
2. Boyd
3. Copley
4. Hodges
5. Kahu
6. Barba
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Hannant
11. Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Parker (c)

14. Thaiday
15. Oates
16. Kennedy / Dodds / Molo / Garbutt
17. Garbutt / Dodds / Molo / Kennedy

You are kidding yourself if you think Reed isn't a typical WB player.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

there are also reports (not necessarily 100% reliable) that he wants to get rid of Hoffman and Barba and bring Boyd in, which IMO is a bad move

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

lol at noone naming Boyd in their team yet (apart from foordys mention).

He will be here, and he will be our fullback.

yep, I have a feeling people seem to be forgetting the type of player that Bennett has a history of keeping around - nuffies. He usually has a team with superstars that win the games for him, and nuffies who are "good blokes" for the rest of the squad.

He can offload Hoffman, but I would much rather have either Barba or Milford at fullback than Boyd, both being much more talented and good to watch.

Re: Wayne Bennet's 2015 Team Line Up

I sometimes question people motifs on here with regards to being good to watch over winning games. I would rather watch my team grind out wins the old fashion way then be on the end of losses even if they really attacked well and looked "flashy". Winning is what counts to me and I don't care how it gets done but I just want it done. I think a lot of people here have written Boyd off as a fullback. Just look back a couple of years ago to see that he was an integral player for the dragons in their premiership run. Trust me when I say this, in our current attack structure, he will fit in perfectly if Bennett brings him back to the club. Lets not forget, he is used to running off our patented backline movement.

so would we all, but Boyd will be coached by Bennett until one of them retires.

IMO, Barba has shown enough at 5/8 over the last 2 weeks to suggest he could transition to 5/8 successfully (i have been saying this since the pre-season). and having Barba at 5/8 allows Milford to continue to develop in his best position
