You retarded or something? I'm pro-Bennett, always have been.. my point is that within the next 3 years he'll sign a lot of these sorts of players, mediocre / safe, not on a lot of money.. like he did at the Knights.. I was just hoping that he learned from his mistakes, not off to a good start.

I didn't expect him to play 9 if Macca went down, I was more so hoping that Taylor would be used as a utility off the bench, similar to what Cornish did at the Raiders, come on and give 10 minutes of speed & effort, whether he's running out of dummy half or playing as a third play-maker.

You're correct in saying that we have very few specialist Hookers though, I'm not sure if Berrell could step up in the occurrence that Macca got a long term injury.

But surely there's a better back-up Hooker than Waddell on the market.. surely..

Edit: Nevermind, there really isn't, I just checked, the only good free agent Hooker is Matt Srama, who will more than likely be re-signed by the Titans before too long.

I don't think signing Waddell necessarily means that Taylor can't be used in that role. Personally, I hope it's used sparingly if at all since I believe it'd be disruptive in the make-up of our team. It worked okay at the Raiders since McCrone is ordinary and is probably better out of dummy half. I wouldn't want to move Ben Hunt, especially if he holds his form.

Plus, I hate the way Sticky used Cornish, so there's that.

Not only is there a lack of viable alternatives, I also believe there is a lack of valuable alternatives. Even if there was a good hooker on the market, I doubt they'd be as valuable as Waddell.

Hopefully what happens is, Waddell comes up here but Wayne also promotes Berrell and drafts in a hooker from one of our affiliates. Possibly a Parcell who has been getting plenty of wraps lately from the Jets.

I'd have thought we could have done better than Waddell if we are looking for a back up hooker. Probably find a better option in the QLD Cup. This is just Wayne looking after one of his boys but at least we actually need a back up hooker even though I don't think Waddell is much chop.

and then I've said that a positive is he has nrl experience and the u20's dont look ready to step up.

Something that I haven't seen considered here yet is that we don't know what he offers off the field. Maybe he is inspirational at training, maybe he makes a really good lamb curry.
