RABBLE RABBLE Tigers Robbery - Refereeing Farce

Legitimately the worst call ive seen in the past 5 years let alone this season, and its no surprise Klein has his dirty hands all over it as well.
Tigers 100% robbed 6 ways to Sunday.

Feldt rocketing to the top of my most hated player list, right up there with Turncoates and Luai.
Tigers threatening legal action and rightfully so, as this was not just a disgraceful series of events, but the officials themselves have brought the game into disrepute and should be held accountable.

Klein should be dropped from all duties for the rest of the season and undertake intensive retraining.
The win should officially be overturned, and the two points awarded to the tigers on the back of an official public apology from Annesley.
So many careers ride on performances, that Tigers coach for example might've had a clause where he gets bonuses for any wins. It's not "just a game" it's the livelihoods of many people.

Ball was caught, there was no time left, catcher was on the ground and a hand was placed on him. That's fulltime, that's it.

There's many many instances in the past of "but it didn't really decide the game", but this is the one time where it actually did decide the game because it was full time that's all she wrote and the refs blew a penalty after the game was over through an incorrect captain's challenge.

I don't exactly want the result to be overturned because can you imagine the NRL having that power, but there needs to be some serious ramifications from this, it's not a "we make mistakes carry on" it was absolute gross incompetence.

Diving dickhead.

No matter what way they dice it, the NRL made a blunder. By their protocols, what should have happened is that Chris Butler via Ashley Klein should have penalised Kepaoa for the escort and it should have been Wests who challenged the call. It should never have transpired with the Cowboys challenging the call of full-time.

This is one of the main issues I have with the captain's challenge. On paper, it's a nice innovation but it's just been so poorly implemented and led to a lot of inconsistency. The NRL just needs to refine the rule so it's clear what can and cannot be challenged and the proper processes so it can be consistent across the entire game.

They also need to make the rules accessible to the public so fans don't lose trust in the system. Because there's so many rulings and interpretations that aren't covered by their official documents and it leads to so much confusion and frustration among the fans.

The other point is the escort penalty. Queensland had a similar call go against them in Origin II which also saw bunker intervention. It's not a black and white rule and the NRL needs to be clear what elements need to be present to constitutes interference.

From my perspective, both Kepaoa and Feldt were competing for the ball, they ran shoulder to shoulder which they're entitled to do and Feldt fell over to draw the penalty. Kepaoa was holding his ground getting back to compete for the ball.

There needs to be a defence for milking which is what Feldt clearly did.
You are permitted - within a limited set of circumstances - to jostle in the contest for the ball when it's not in possession. Let's not drill down into that because there are plenty of penalties in there as well.

You are not permitted to obstruct a defender once the ball is in possession, whether they be catching, kicking, playing the ball or running.

I'm not a referee and I was only watching it from afar on TV, but there looked like a case to me. Obviously, Feldt milked it, but that's irrelevant and not against the rules. I thought the bunker would uphold it, and they did.

This is one of those cases, where you grab your tissues and cry in the corner. The Tigers had it in the bag and fucked it.

If you undermine the authority of the on-field and bunker officials, you have no competition. You suck it up and move on. If there appears to be proof an official is "cheating" to affect the outcome of a match, then the correct course of action would be to report them to the police. That's a crime, which should result in a jail sentence. Human error, on the other hand, is to be expected. That's why we have the Captain's challenge.

You're debating the incident which shouldn't even be up for debate as they had no right to challenge to begin with. Under the rules of when a team can and cannot challenge, they had no right to challenge.

Dude. They got it wrong.

They got it wrong in multiple different ways.

Pick a different hill to die on, because this one isn't it.

The entire sequence of events then followed by the decision itself which, it just looks so bad.

This is an instance where every neutral rugby league fan would be ok if the NRL came out and overturned the result.

Without that farcical turn of events, the tigers won the game. At the end of 80 minutes, with the siren sounding, without a penalty being blown, the Tigers were in possession of the ball and the tackle had been completed. Game over. Tigers won. Overturn the result. All the nonsense that occured with the challenge/bunker was after full time. There is no other result that could have possibly happened, other than a tigers win. Give them the win.

Unfortunately, the NRL are a corrupt bunch of spineless morons. If only the Panthers or Roosters were the ones in the Tigers' position.

Big Del, you would be singing a very different tune if it was the Broncos on the end of this farce.
The fact so many neutral footy fans have come out and blasted this should make it obvious that bias is playing no part in the outrage.

I could care less if the Tigers won the Spoon for the next 50 years, but they were 100% fucked by the officials yesterday.

Let's not forget who the ref was in the Panthers/Sharks game where the Finucane tackle wasn't even worthy of a penalty but is worth a three week suspension.

Remember years ago when the government was trotting out the "darkest days in australian sport" headline? I think it was when Cronulla were into the peptides..

The way this game finished for mine, it's got a bit of Ryan Tandy about it.
No, had nothing to do with Cronulla. Think further south

Darkest days was when ADADA was investigating systematic drug use in Australian sports. Julia Gillard and that big press conference before they took down.....Dank. And that's it.

Yeah, completely agree. It's an excellent point you make. The outrage is from neutral supporters. I couldn't care less who was on the end of the robbery yesterday, it was plain wrong. Should not have happened. It ruined the spectacle. Tigers played brilliantly, and they were robbed.

I wish it was one the NRL's darling clubs on the end of it though, because then we might get a response from the NRL about how poor the officiating is week-to-week, game-to-game.

The officiating and all these BS rules like the phantom 6-agains are ruining the game. There are different rule interpretations in each match. Things are being allowed for one team, and then not for another team. It's just frustrating as a rugby league fan.

I watch every game each round and it's obvious that there is a bias towards some teams with the way the game is officiated. It's undeniable. It shouldn't be happening. I'm not going to start claiming it's some conspiracy or some nonsense like that.

But, whatever the reason is, certain decisions in a game make you realise some teams get the rub of the green more than others. It's not fair to bend the rules for certain teams, so why is it happening? Teams at the lower end of the ladder seem to constantly get shafted by poor decisions, especially when they are winning in a match they were expected to lose.

I couldn't give two shits who won, but that was downright the worst thing I've seen on a rugby league field since JYY's career ending injury.

You only have to look at Feldt's history of acting up for the whistle.

What's even more discouraging is the NRL and a minority of people defending this like it is the way a game should be officiated.
