i'm taking bets on whether Annersley conveniently forgets to talk about the challenge in our game where the refs allowed the Eels to go fishing to find a penalty (another non call that can't legally be challenged)

I don’t agree with overturning the result unless it’s proven that there was something illegal like match fixing involved, which I’m not suggesting there was in this case.

First and foremost, Klein and the on field ref should be gone for the season and have to undergo a retraining and trial period to officiate nrl matches again. Start them in the lower grades and then if they’re good enough have them as touchies etc. Also, give Feldt a multi-week suspension for bringing the game into disrepute. I’d also consider suspending Townsend too if you can prove that he knew the challenge was not allowed under the rules (you’d have to listen to the audio, probably impossible to prove).

The short whistle does exist, you'd have to ask a ref to explain it. One of those obscure rules.

They can't overturn the result but they could admit what a cluster **** it was

I reckon overturning the decision, while opening a pandoras box of future fuckery, would be the only way the NRL could save face on this.

Anything less will just cause disgruntled fans (especially tigers fans) to walk away from the game.

I was thinking earlier how i would feel if this was a call against the Broncos, and i would be baying for blood, and if i didnt get that blood, i would be very inclined to walk away from RL as a fan for good.
That being said, i lose my shit when we lose a 50/50 call so i might just be an angry outlier.

Its safe to say that most fans, while dislike losing, accept it as part of the game, except when it is through outright incompetence like we are seeing here.
