OFFICIAL Titans get their man with Fifita signing three-year deal

Because it shows the state of the club at the moment that one of the best forward prospects in the NRL has gone to what is supposed to be the rabble down the road instead of us.

Also it has been suggested that had we been in a better position onfield, that the difference in money wouldn’t have been enough to sway him to leave and that’s on the management for the ludicrous decision to give Seibold the keys to the joint for 5 bloody years after 1 year in first grade.

A decision that is slowly burning the reputation of the club to the ground each day he remains in charge whilst the board hide behind their irresponsible decision to save their own jobs.
He went to the rabble down the road for the convoy if dump trucks filled with cash the Titans sent to his house ... no other reason.

The state of the club had zero to do with it. He'll, he chose cash over playing with his best mate (who we have signed for another 3 years)

He isn't returning mate, there is no chance. He is with his mates we keep hearing about now and he isn't going down in pay from here and we won't and shouldn't pay that. In any case even if he did return (which he won't) as I said this is different to Hodgo and there is nothing he can do to win me over. Not that he would care and he has made it clear he doesn't care about anyone or anything other than himself.

David Fifita returning is probably the one thing that would make me stop supporting the club/NRL. I will never cheer him in any jersey again.
lol you're taking this way too personally.

I doubt he returns ... he's a mercenary now, it will all be about the highest bidder
I tend to agree, by next deal he will be around 23 years old and should have cut the apron string by then and be willing to relocate to a club outside of SEQ so will have plenty of options other than the Broncos.

Not really, everyone takes things differently but I would much rather have my club mean something to me rather than what a lot of people are doing in congratulating him by going to a rival. As a collective we seem to have the most nonchalant fans going. The amount of "oh well, good on you David" I have heard is mind blowing. I just don't get it.

My biggest concern is for Dave at the moment, it's the same situation as Taylor, the Titans almost destroyed Taylor with their 'get one over Big Brother' agenda. They buried him under expectation.

Mal and Tallis are front and centre here, Taylor has served his purpose and you watch them just cast Taylor aside at contract renewal time, Dave has taken his place.

Dave is a still just a kid, what they've done is totally self serving and is reckless both in terms of the Titans club and Dave.

He's just passionate, something that our players and club in general could use more of, or at least show.

I think after the horrible season we have endured so far this year Fifita staying would have made it a lot more tolerable going into 2021. As fans we are flat out taking any positives out of this year or coming up with a list of more than 4 players everyone can agree on that are worth keeping, Fifita was one of them.

Totally with you. Screw him.
The Broncos are MY team. I want people playing for them that bleed for the jersey.
If you want to play for the highest bidder you can piss off and do it, but don't expect me to cheer you on just because you used to play for the Broncos.
I for one hope his career goes to shit as a lesson to other players.
And every year that we finish above them, I'll laugh and say **** you Fifita, **** you Tallis

I think this is a real possibility but I am not concerned for Dave, I don't give a **** about him, in fact I am hoping it happens.

won't be a lesson to anyone .... we have all seen countless players leave clubs for the $$$ only to fall flat on their faces.

Your ears are going to bleed when you listen to Gorden speak about how mature and smart Fifita is and how he is an outstanding young man ahead of his years and who has strong ‘values’

This is despite Gorden only meeting him less than a week ago mind you when he came up with this baseless conclusion all on his own based on one phone call. Must have been some phone call.

Gorden has spent more time on that phone call to David and Gwen than he has actually saying anything remotely positive about the club that made him and that he still continues to reap the rewards of with his status that he obtained playing for the Broncos.

Honestly says a lot about how 2 faced Gorden is that he continues to throw barbs at the Broncos from a distance and won’t put his agenda to one side to offer a hand but will offer to jump on the coaching team of the Titans to get Fifita to sign after having never met the guy.

I would offer Matt Lodge a lifetime Broncos membership and 10 year deal if he had of fucking socked that bald headed prick right across the kisser. Suppose it’s never too late.

The difference now too is this time around the Titans have made Fifita the highest paid player in the game at 20 years of age and 37 NRL games, 0 origin series wins and 0 NRL finals wins whilst coming off a knee injury, who is consigned to one position on the edge of the field. No matter which way you look at it is irresponsible and unjustifiable from the Titans. For the money they threw at him they could have gotten someone who would win them games more regular and touch the ball more if they weren’t so desperate to try and get a vulnerable big name right now. Think Mal was under pressure to justify his head of culture position and just went for the easy option.

Fifita is an absolute gun at breaking the line and has blistering strength and some decent pace but that’s all he has. David Taylor at least had an offload, a ball playing game and could even put in the odd decent kick.

If you could have fused Fifita and Taylor together with Cam Smith’s brain you would have the Don Bradman of Rugby League.

Sit back and reread your post without emotion. It does not make sense. What does the 5 year contract have to do with anything. Say they had signed Seibs for 3 years, it would not make an iota of difference to how this season has panned out and where are this season. Your logic is completely flawed.

He has gone down the road because they offered a million dollars more over three years.

FYI I didn’t say I agreed with that statement, I’ve just said it has been suggested this could have been another factor to explain why others have felt it wasn’t just about the money.

FWIW, I agree and believe it was all about money 100%. Listening to Gorden try to spin it the other way made me 101% certain it was about the money.

In saying that though I do wonder had we been a stable club and the club was firing on the field and the mood was great around the place, would he have stayed for less?

I am interested to see what reception Fifita gets from the home crowd next time he runs into Suncorp.

All I know is having processed everything and had time to let the decision sink in, I know I would probably personally boo him.

Not sure what others would do. Be interesting to get a rough percentage.

I was only just starting to invest in and follow professional sports as a 13 year old in 2001 when the Hodges fiasco happened so I can’t compare the feelings between the 2, but I dare say the fact that we protected Fifita throughout the Bali saga and have just paid for his knee surgery whilst also offering him a very very lucrative contract before he has earned it, only for him to still string us along and leave, means he fully deserves to be labelled a mercenary over Hodges.

Let’s not forget that the contract that we offered him was probably the most expensive annual salary we have ever offered a forward at our club IN OUR HISTORY...

On paper it reads as $1m difference; however this is purely cap only.
However let's face the reality here. With the size and scale of our club and third party reach, the pay gap would've been a whole lot smaller with corporate sponsorship.
Who was bloody advising him?
