Todd Carney

Agreed. Considering we were happy to make a play for Dugan, we should make Carney an offer.

He's proven he plays his best footy when playing for his career so let's sign him to a short-term, reduced deal. He could be just the thing to reignite our season.

People will moan and say "it's for the good of the game to let him go" but I'm sick of seeing clubs like the Roosters, who don't give two ****s about Rugby League win premierships while we take a stand on moral grounds.

We need a 5/8. If Carney is available, sign him.

We couldn't sign Carney for this year even if we wanted to. The deadline to have players signed by, for a mid season transfer, is today.

And hell will freeze over before the NRL make an exception for someone with Carneys record

i dont think you can discipline carney. the guy is a full blown loose cannon. 100% no alcohol ever again would be the only way forward for him.

I don't want this douche anywhere near the club I support.

As much as I rate him as a player I don't want him. He's a dick and has had plenty of chances, he shouldn't get an offer anywhere.

This season for mine has deliberately been compromised by whatever hold or influence Hoffman has over the club for them/Hook to play him at 5/8 while waiting for Milford.

If he is moved out of 5/8 soon, I will eat my words, but I can't see it happening.

We don't need Carney on any contract when we have players like Taylor, Nikorima etc coming through the ranks, however green they are. They deserve sensible opportunities in the top grade, aside from which we need a class prop way before we should even say the word Carnage, I mean Carney.

As for Hunt's future, same thing. Offer him what is reasonable under the circumstances at season's end. He can test the market as much as he likes, and the club can test his worth after he shows his mettle during the business end of the season.

I'd be all for it, but people claim they aren't ready. I'd seriously be up for almost anything if it meant getting Hoffman out of the halves.

Some of these kids are so confident when they're playing. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that their skills would transfer from under 20s to NRL. Nobody can say with a straight face that Hoffman is a better five-eight than any of our other options. Plus with Milford coming, we could lose these kids. Why not give them a chance whilst they're still Broncos?

This

I still maintain that Hoffman's selection at 5/8, on his form so far, good defensive efforts notwithstanding, is utterly indefensible, but not enough to even contemplate Carnage with the juniors we've got.

A quarter of a million dollars for 26 weeks work, yeah right, you wouldn't take it lol....not to mention the half a million that came with it. 30 grand a game. My scruples would be considerably cheaper !

I don't think he would be allowed to work in England with his previous record?

I'm certain that he was denied a Visa after he got the sack from the raiders. So highly unlikely he would get one now either.

There is no way that Carney will sign with the broncos, he is a PR nightmare and I reckon the club sponsors wouldn't have a bar of him. No way White would risk putting sponsors off this club.

if broncos don't secure hunt and griffin stays long term, **** me dead i'll piss in my own mouth

Can you put it on social media for us to all get a giggle. Hell knows we will need something to break the tension if Hunt leaves

His only problem is that he'd a dick when he drinks. He's not an alcoholic, he just makes dumb decisions when on the drink. When he signed for the Sharks, it was well publicised that they didn't put him on a booze ban - simply they expected him to be able to control himself. Clearly he can't.

Off alcohol, he's a perfectly decent, functioning human. If we get him to agree to a booze ban, breath tests as often as it takes, sign him.

This breath test, are you sniffing for PISS

Problem is you can offer him a deal like that but unless his actually motivated or has serious intervention from those around him to give up the booze, he won't do it or won't last the distance because like drugs and gambling it's an addiction, one you can't just give up overnight either. Quite simply his more likely to just head overseas or head overseas then a deal that basically doesn't feed his habit when his shown no real seriousness to giving up the habit that has negatively effected his career time and again.

People like Carney don't think they are in the wrong. He will just say what everyone wants to hear from now on.

It's his decision on whether to accept the offer. Offer him minimum contract and a big retainer should he last the season. Make it clear that he gets virtually nothing if he fails.

And he tried to go overseas to play previously and his Visa was denied. I doubt those previous indiscretions would have expired yet.
