you also know that if we win the comp Griffin gets a 10 year extension ... a bit like Sheens at the Tigers.

don't get me wrong, i would love nothing more than to win the comp this year. but in the long run we would be far worse of having Carney for the remainder of the year.

besides we would have to sack him at some point, and by then who knows what damaged could be done to our image, our relationship with our sponsors, our playing group, our culture etc. He would not be worth the risk, even if the NRL would allow another club to sign him even though the June 30 deadline has passed.

You know it's not that simple

If all carney had done is drink his own piss he wouldn't have been banned.

It's the repeated fuckups and the many, many second chances and the obvious fact that he isn't going to change that have led to this.

He only has himself to blame

what's absurd is the reality you live in. Carney has had that many chances it's not funny. the Pissing in the mouth incident is the straw that broke the camels back. let's all feel sorry for Todd because he is a good bloke who is hard done by. give me a break.

Yes, pissing in your own mouth is VERY minor if you ask me. What he did wasn't a crime and if he came out and pretended it was a fetish, he'd have golden shower enthusiasts picketing the nrl for descrimimation.

I'm not sure how close this next part will be to breaking board rules, so I'll try and word it carefully...
There have been a lot of romours for a few months about a huge name player with a track record of bad behaviour who has fallen off the rails lately. This player may have been up to his old mischief, with the club covering up his actions. Once the team's form drops significantly, and begins experiencing a severe culture crisis, and the star player is back in the media for the wrong reasons (hypothetically pissing in one' sown mouth), you could imagine they'd tell the NRL the full story in a bid to terminate his contract. The NRL could then see how his current behaviour reflects his past indescretions and decide to hand out a life ban.

Because even with a top flight 5/8 we remain 1 top flight head coach short of a premiership

I think Todd Carney was treated pretty poorly over the incident to be honest. He has been clean as a whistle the last couple of years and played some great footy! Who here hasn't done something stupid after a few beers?? I don't believe he deserved to have his contract thrown out and I strongly believe he should remain registered as an Nrl player.

The early 20s Carney had plenty of chances and was lucky enough to get the gig at the sharks and has been outstanding for them over the last couple of years. Give the bloke a break, he has a coach who couldn't give a ****, a team that had lost 6 or 7 on the trot and a board of directors who have no clue how to run a club.

Yeah he was on the drink at the time but as he said, he had joked around doing the same thing with guys in the team.

You are claiming he is an alcoholic etc. To our knowledge he may have only had 2 beers that night and 2 for the season.

I would take him in a heartbeat up at Red Hill.
