OFFICIAL Walsh signs with the Broncos until 2025

They’ll be absolutely getting into the ear of his management, probably right now as we speak.

Missing out on Walsh would be the first real blow dealt from the Broncos towards the Dolphins

Doesn't matter if they for or not.

They can only talk to Walsh about 2025 on.

From the Tele:

"Walsh will quit the club at the end of the season after requesting a release on Tuesday. Walsh has only been given permission to negotiate with the Broncos as part of that release."

I’m ok with it. Close with the boys and keeping away from his kid must sting

I’m sorry mate but you are simply tripping if you haven’t been impressed enough with Mam to say he should still be in QCup.

and yes I agree with the Seibold throwing all the inexperience in AT ONCE was stupid….

But these are different circumstances most of the squad has had a couple of years in the NRL by now, we have Reynolds as captain and Mariner isn’t playing in some key spine position, he is a centre.

I'm not tripping at all. Never said i havent been impressed, but he's been exactly as i've said. Good in parts, very ordinary in others. He's not ready to play 6 for us over a full season over somebody like Kelly or Gamble if they are fit. The experience he is getting is valuable but he's still got a long way to go with a lot of things in his game. At the moment, we dont have the team to carry Mam for a whole year.

Center is still a very tough position to play even if it isnt a spine position. You make it out like you can throw anyone in there. Its not that simple. So much work you have to do on your defence, organisation and communication first and foremost way before you focus on your attack. If we are throwing him in the NRL in the centers, he needs another 12 months in Queendsland cup.

I just looked on google and couldnt find it, but I remember watching footage post-origin this year and Walsh was in the rooms standing behind Patty with his hands on his shoulders...just stood out as a real comfortable 'good mates' thing. I remember thinking, 'these are the moments that players realise its about more than just $'. The sort of moment that guys like Walsh and Fifita probably/possibly have regrets.
Flick through his instagram. He likes to selfie with old teammates after games.

Him and Patty are good mates has been over at Carrigans, Piakura and Keenan's a fair bit laterly, went and watch Brendan play for North's the other week with Patty.
I think he split with his Partner and since been with with Broncos boys alot more.

He's got a player option for 2024 so they can talk to him about that year as well

I dunno if its the right move, Walsh comes across as a bit of self obsessed, impatient, entitled wanker, haven't we specifically been trying to get rid of these types of guys?
So are most his age. Generational problem; impatient and not willing to wait is best way to describe them

If that's the case and it happens, then it comes down to length of the deal as well to get an idea of what agendas could be at play.

A 2yr deal is end of 2024 and he might only be taken it because warriors have put him into a corner in regards to who he can deal with... if it's a 3yr deal with no PO's then that's pretty stock standard NRL deal and could suggest that he's pretty committed to the broncos

Guess it paid off releasing him early if that is true
Makes sense. They owe us one for not demanding a pound of flesh in return. We've done a bit of horsetrading with them over the years. Nikorima, O'Sullivan, Walsh, Arthars, Lodge. Well they mightn't be so grateful for the last one.

I think Walsh has a lot of upsides to him. He's clearly a talented fullback but as i said earlier, i'd say its going to cost us Farnworth. Time will tell if going back to a player that couldnt get out of the door fast enough will be the right move. Lets hope he's matured a bit. Not convinced but maybe he will settle now.

You think we haven’t spoken to them about him coming to us?

Seems weird he would want to go back to the club that denied him an opportunity initially

Can recall that it was Paul Turner that we were thinking of doing a deal for... after seeing him play for titans I can only think, thank **** that didn't eventuate.

I'm sure there's a player in there somewhere with Turner, but I've not seen anything from him yet.

We didn't deny him an opportunity.. we had a clear plan for him.

He opted for the shortcut.

He apparently has plenty of mates here still which would be a big reason he would want to come here

I’m willing to listen on the second paragraph, maybe another 12 months in Cup wouldn’t hurt Mariner but if he got a shot at one point next year I wouldn’t be surprised if he held onto his position.

But I just disagree with your standpoint in Mam. Just because he kicked early against cowboys and out on the full “he’s not ready for NRL”. I’d go as far as too say Gamble has more errors in his game, almost throws a forward pass with that short ball to his back rower once a game. Seems like I’m not going to change your mind with that so agree to disagree, Mam just offers more than Kelly or Gamble.
