OFFICIAL Walsh signs with the Broncos until 2025

We didn't deny him an opportunity.. we had a clear plan for him.

He opted for the shortcut.

He apparently has plenty of mates here still which would be a big reason he would want to come here

I hadn’t read the article admittedly, it’s interesting that the Warriors are only allowing him to negotiate with us

Reynolds liked this Fox League post on Instagram. Read into it what you will aha.

You think we haven’t spoken to them about him coming to us?

Seems weird he would want to go back to the club that denied him an opportunity initially
I don’t think there’d be any apprehension or ill feeling from Walsh’s side really .. I’m sure the broncos would’ve communicated their long term plans for him and he would’ve felt very much wanted by the club.. the two parties just didn’t see eye to eye on a very early juncture of his career.. but he’d have known that the club rated him highly and wanted him as their long term fullback..

Like many on here I’m dubious on this unit it’s announced. Seems like a genius play from his camp to get the phins to up their offer IMO, but we’ll see.
Love for @Smokin' Joe or @1910 to chime in.

The Warriors are apparently only allowing him to negotiate with us, it doesn't matter what the Dolphins want

I’m willing to listen on the second paragraph, maybe another 12 months in Cup wouldn’t hurt Mariner but if he got a shot at one point next year I wouldn’t be surprised if he held onto his position.

But I just disagree with your standpoint in Mam. Just because he kicked early against cowboys and out on the full “he’s not ready for NRL”. I’d go as far as too say Gamble has more errors in his game, almost throws a forward pass with that short ball to his back rower once a game. Seems like I’m not going to change your mind with that so agree to disagree, Mam just offers more than Kelly or Gamble.

I dont think Mam is an NRL ready half for an entire year and i wouldnt expect him to be either at his age. I said we cant carry him for a full year, and we just cant, we arent a good enough side. As with all young players, barring a few exceptions, he will have a dip in form so we will need to make sure we pull him out of the firing line. At the moment, Gamble is the sensible option. I'm not his biggest fan either but he can control the game better than Ezra. He's just not as flashy. If you stuff up a young halves development you stuff them up for their whole career. We have to be smart enough to make sure we develop him properly. Mam will probably play more this year than i'd like him to due to Kelly's injury and Reynolds issues, and as long as we dont start getting flogged he will take something from it. Still doesnt mean he is ready for a full year though, just means he's getting his chance a little earlier than expected.

TBH I just don't care for Walsh that much. $ for $ I think we get better value out of Herbie.
Not at Fullback. Like **** me dead can we give up like that was a genuine possibility of happening let alone being a success. TMM showed ball playing was the key to that position in this side. We just got a very good ball player and runner to fill that spot. Herbie only fills one of those prerequisites and arguably is nowhere near as damaging as Reece’s.

I think Walsh has a lot of upsides to him. He's clearly a talented fullback but as i said earlier, i'd say its going to cost us Farnworth. Time will tell if going back to a player that couldnt get out of the door fast enough will be the right move. Lets hope he's matured a bit. Not convinced but maybe he will settle now.
This is Patty’s club now. Walsh’s attitude will be kept in check

He's not going to move Herbie, he's just nowhere near his level, and if Oates stays he's locked out there as well. I never get the fascination people have with throwing these kids into the NRL so quickly. Its so detrimental to their development.

Herbie has been very good this season .
That`s why I queried Mariner pushing Herbie onto a wing .

Still bothers me a bit these players who signed for a club based in NZ that then want out as soon as the realise they have to live there. I think that stinks personally.
With so many players, and even their coach doing it, you have to wonder if the idiots in the Warriors front office made some bad deals

The only way you can carry a young guy like Ezra coming in so raw is if the rest of your spine is highly capable to take all the pressure off him.

Reyno is like the only one we've got, but at least he had some experience also around him in TMM.

That's two points for the attack to go through so Ezra can just chime in when he wants to.

If Walsh does come, I would worry a little bit about how the spine goes. Walsh is an excellent young player and does not stop trying, but there's one thing to be 100% competitive and always going, but you also need to have some smarts otherwise you're just running around like a headless chook.

Reyno brings the direction and we've survived his injuries to date because Gamble is an experienced campaigner (not so much in NRL, but he's been running around in ISC for a long time) that can come in and do a job, and TMM is experienced as a 6 and is composed on the ball... those guys as back ups to Reyno can bring some calm to the rest of the team

If Walsh comes in then TMM is as good as gone I reckon, and that leaves us with Reyno being the only composed one left in the spine and question marks all over the 9 jersey... I'd worry about him having to run around with two kids at 6 & 1.

Yeah this is a lot of peoples club now and I think Reece needs to realise this isn’t his team and far from it. Everywhere you turn now there is someone with fairly high stature in the game now. Cobbo, Staggs, Oates, Farnworth all in the backline. Obviously Reyno, Capes and Pat are the big boys with the leadership and hopefully respect in the joint. At this stage Payne and Flegs will still be there (obviously flegs will but Haas not certain). Than Piakura, Willison, Mozer and Mam are the young bucks with their own puff pieces in the courier mail. Obviously Walsh stands out over a lot of them but this is a team where he has mates, he has guidance and will enjoy his footy but his arrogant bullshit will NOT Fly cause there are heaps of blokes around the joint fans like, value and appreciate more after his stunt 18 months ago.

It's a tough one, nearly every newer deal probably has a get out clause for players who don't want to set up camp in NZ
