I didn't say he was signed to Tinkler. But clearly he had clauses in there should Tinkler lose control. Or do you think that Wayne Bennett is truly such an arsehole that he's terminating his own contract Just Because Wayne and expects no one to stand up to him?

What I do agree with is that Hannant is now a much better chance of staying which is great. McGuire is going to need to do a bit of soul-searching - if he truly wants to play for whatever team Hook coaches, is he prepared to take that loyalty all the way to the Qld Cup should that possibility (albeit slim) eventuate? I suspect, like most of the players did, Moose was sticking by his Coach, but McGuire is the sort of player Bennett both loves and needs - it'll take a lot to pry him away IMO.

Barba is a confidence player. Ask Jamie Soward if Bennett can get the best out of that sort.
He quit - you don't need a clause in a contract to get out when you quit. He did quit "because Wayne", and they can't make him stay. He knew he would get another million+ job a year from idiots who still believe he'll just waltz in and a premiership will follow.

Hannant staying is not great IMO. We've finally pulled the trigger and told him to look elsewhere so we can try get some actual good props, yet now its all undone because of Bennett. McGuire will get huge offers from other teams if he hasn't already, and with no griffin there to make him stay I'd say he'll take the big bucks. I mean, Bennett does it at every turn so can't hold it against McGuire if he does.

The saints supporting cast was more to do with soward than Bennett. Unless Ivan clearly is also a master coach, since so wards playing awesome at Penrith as well, unsurprisingly because his cohorts are doing their job and providing him a platform to work with.

i would love to see wayne bennett unleash the 2012 barba beast. couple that with ben hunt and milford mentored by locky, we should be premiership contenders next year. interesting times ahead

Who says he didn't have a get-out clause?

Hannant had a slow start to the season, but since his dropping he's been fantastic. He was IMO our best forward on Saturday, and is playing the best football of his last two years at least. We really need both him & McGuire, as well as Kennedy and whoever plays best out of Garbutt, Wallace, Dodds etc in our 17 playing to their potential. And if you don't think Bennett was the biggest factor in Soward's purple patch, then I really don't know what to say.

Quite a few going full retard today.

Calm the **** down.

Why can't we have griffin as assistant coach? I wouldn't mind it at all.

Sowards playing as good as, if not better, than he did with saints. Guess cleary is just as good, or a better coach than Bennett by ur logic.

if Bennett is responsible for Soward playing well then he must be responsible for the guys that play bad right? Like Boyd for thr first half of the year, running away from bombs, career worst form... Or was that just darius' fault ?

It would make things very awkward. If you ran an office and your superiors hired someone to replace you from outside the company, would you want to work with them every day as their number 2? Griffin needs to move on. I say good luck to him.

I just feel bad for griffin, his left potential for Bennett, and now Bennett will get all credit if we have a great year next year.. Poor bloke hope titans jump at griffin or cows.

You're kidding if you're saying Soward is playing better now than in Bennett's first two years at the Dragons. He was unstoppable. He's playing very well, and like at the Dragons it was because of a great team effort, but nothing like 2009 & 2010. As for Boyd, are you talking about his first year for the Dragons? As in, the first year he actually played fullback full time, on top of playing for a new team?

Cleary is a phenomenal coach... What point are you actually trying to make?

Would swapping Hoffman for Boyd be the worst thing? Hoffman is on his last year of his contract next season, which means we'd have to re-sign him for pretty big money in 2016, $500k+, which is similar to what we'd have to pay Boyd.. My only concern is convincing Boyd the big baby to play wing for the rest of his career, and not being salty about it.

how about we piss Hoffman off, leave Boyd to find a club other than the Broncos and have Kahu, Vidot and Maranta to fight it out for wing spots. (Hodges and Copley as centers)

Hoffman is the better winger and is cheaper why would we want boyd unless we ditched barba

I'm talking about first half of this year. He was a joke. An utter embarrassment to the knights club. I remember watching him turn and actually retreat from a bomb and thought, shit, he's given up

and i certainly wouldn't want that ... Barba has so much more potential than Boyd has (and is younger). i do hope Bennett can bring out his best, whether in the 6 or 1

I'm not entirely sold on Kahu, Maranta & Vidot being the wingers we'll need to win a premiership.

* Maranta is safe under the high ball, shows some promise in attack, mediocre finisher.
* Vidot is mediocre under the high ball, gains enormous metres out of our end, mediocre finisher.
* Kahu is constantly injured, shows glimpses of brilliance.

Hoffman & Boyd are both elite finishers and highly experienced, I would much prefer at least one of them on the wing next season.

unfortunately neither of them want to play wing ... and i want someone there that is fully committed to playing, not crying that he isn't fullback.

we'd also have the money to source another quality winger from somewhere
