Hahahahaha.
Fucking fantastic. Another press conference to confirm what's been confirmed like 100 times now. And Badel and co look like absolute fuckwits again.

Bennett is coaching us in 2019. There's no smokes and mirrors, he wants to stay, the club obviously wants him to stay too. He's still a top tier coach, and the business revenue they can milk from his final season would be very hard to ignore.

Bring on a 2019 premiership.

constant rumours of Bennett grooming players to follow him to Souths, etc, which WILL happen if we don't fire him.

Thanks to bennett most of our roster is signed past 2019 apart from TPJ and Oates no?

The only part that contradicts everything is the Broncos reportedly scheduling a press conference with Seibold at 4pm this arvo. Did we do that under the assumption that Bennett would go ahead with the swap? Why would we assume he wanted to do the swap if he "Was always coaching the Broncos in 2019 and has never considered otherwise"? Something still doesn't add up.

THIS IS THE BEST

Well, the "fans" can't complain that they haven't been kept updated, right? Another press conference to say the exact same thing.

I love you, Wayne.

Most of our roster that Bennett signed beyond 2019-2020 are the ones people don't really want signed long-term (Boyd, McCullough, Bird, etc) and most of the ones signed on 1-2 year deals are the ones that we WANT signed long-term (Pangai Jr, Oates, Lodge).

I'd still give him a pass mark in terms of recruitment & retention during his time here, but it's not as clear cut as people are making out, he's made a lot of errors in judgement.

The best part of his stunt this morning was that he even made them wait 2 hours longer than necessary, he called a 10am presser and rocked up at 12pm, despite saying that he never even considered the early move to Souths.

He loves fucking with Badel and co. doesn't he, hahaha.

Interesting sideline, Craddock said on an interview with Foxsports earlier that Demetriou apparently told his kids last night that they would be in Sydney next week. If true, something was brewing and WB has changed tack again at the last moment.

Did Craddock hack in to the baby monitor or something? How could he possibly know that?

Why haven't they sacked Wayne already ... he's obviously getting a hell of a lot more money than anyone knew.

No idea, but he is one guy that I would believe had a source as opposed to simply making it up. Maybe one of the staff there this morning might have let it slip.

Fifita, haas, Gillett, sua, isaako all signed past next year this year.

Signs pointed to Wayne Bennett departing on Red Hill’s chaotic day

NOVEMBER 30, 2018

Just when the state thought its greatest bushfires were under control in walked Wayne Bennett to the Broncos offices at Red Hill on Friday.
Bennett basically stood on the top of Mount Bronco, leaned backwards towards the abyss and said “come on gentleman, push ... I dare you.’’
But when the club’s board declined to sack him - for the moment at least - he surprised everyone by deciding to stay at the Broncos for one last year.
How close was Bennett to leaving the Broncos?
Close enough that his replacement Anthony Seibold was on standby for a 4pm press conference to announce his arrival at Red Hill.
Close enough that Bennett’s assistant coach Jason Demetriou told his family on Thursday night he would be moving to Sydney.
Close enough that Souths have reportedly signed another young forward from another club that Bennett approved and Seibold only found out about it after the deal was done.
What a circus. How can it come to this?
The Broncos have seen many dramatic days at their Red Hill headquarters but never one as confusing as this.
Club staff have had enough of the drama.
At 10am on Friday when I arrived at Red Hill they were open in their relief he was moving on - or so they thought.
Bennett told reporters earlier he would hold a morning press conference.
Club signage was shifted in so he could stand in front of it but there was no sense it was a club occasion - it was a rogue coach having his say and no-one was sure what that would be.
Rumours swirled everywhere.
No-one knew what was happening. In Sydney Souths officials were waiting by the phone and so was Seibold.
Chris Johns turned up and the speculation was he would have plenty to say about club bosses if Bennett was sacked.
But he wasn’t so Johns went home.
Bennett held his press conference but there was no sighting of club chief executive Paul White or the club’s publicity shy chairman Karl Morris.
In his deliberate, matter of a fact sort of way, Bennett tried to explain that nothing had changed from his position that he was staying.
In truth it had changed but then it changed back again. If the rumours are correct, the day before he thought he was leaving.
He expected to be sacked and paid out in full.
But it never happened. Is this the end of the story?
Surely not. The relationship between Bennett and the Broncos has fractured beyond repair.
The sooner he moves on the better it will be for both of them.
If he stays next year there will be weekly dramas and differences of opinion and humiliation for all parties.
If you think Friday’s event was a bushfire - you’ve seen nothing yet.

Wayne had better be careful. Broncs might feel this sort of rubbish is sackable - worthy and Souths might decide NOT to release Seibold for 2019...

Well assuming the Broncos won't outright sack Wayne, a possible ballsy play for the club would be to retain his employment but move him away from Head Coach over to another role effective immediately, essentially taking the day to day coaching and control away, then hand JD the reigns for 2019.

That sounds awful, that'd give him more reason and more free time to persuade players & coaching staff to go with him to Souths in 2020. If we don't sack him we should be treating him like loyalty for 2019, so that he has no ill feelings towards the club and is less likely to try and **** us up the ass.

Who actually said that the Broncos would have a 4pm press conference? The media? Because the last thing they've said is that they had Seibold "on standby" for a 4pm unveiling as the Broncos' new coach. Does that mean that 4pm will come and go, Souths' deadline for the swap will come and go, nothing will happen and we can FINALLY resume with our 2019 prep???
