For the most part your correct in other ways we aren't. Financially the club has never been stronger nor the club facilities better, but then I think more could be done to increase membership and season ticket numbers by making them more affordable and more effort to increase crowd figures at a stadium the quality of which is arguably the best in the league.

I think initially yes, but after that he was simply going along with the script to have the upper hand in negotiations. The very reason we are in such a strong position off the field is because we dont make stupid financial decisions like other clubs do. I dont get why bennett gets a free pass to use and manipulate the media to get the upper hand in negotiations but our ceo and management is getting blasted for doing the same. At least they SEEMED (not proven but all signs point to it being more likely then not) to have been being honest with those whos lives it will effect when it didnt put them in a position of weakness in negotiations, something bennett cannot claim to have done throughout the process. Looking after our finances is the main role of a ceo, handing out a million dollars without attempting every avenue to avoid it seems to me like poor management. They didnt do that...

This also assumes I suppose that Wayne didn’t actually want to coach next year, otherwise it seems things would have gone a lot more smoothly.

My guess is there will be a reduced payout. If Wayne really has been making plans for Souths as reported, that gives the Broncos pretty good leverage.

What about Morris and white telling him he is the Broncos coach for 2019 then making plans with souths to boot him ? How is the board not telling lies aswell.

Agree.

He seems to be a decent enough bloke, but I can't shake the feeling he's treating the Broncos as 80% business, 20% football club. Also clearly he isn't the best when handling internal crises.

... no name reporter with no histroy in breaking stories in the nrl/inside scoops states “its BELIEVED bennett got a payout of a million dollars” whilst every other media outlet is reporting it is likely he is getting sacked on grounds of breaking his contract conditions-“proof he got the payout!!! Undeniable proof!!!”

For the record, I’m roughly straight down the middle . Neither Bennett nor the front office have covered themselves in glory and this whole MESS could have been avoided months ago with a little more honesty and communication.

I still think he is the greatest coach of all time, i have never wavered from that. I also enjoy his media games, but not when it is to purposely hurt my club. Bennett has been shown to be lying, the press conference was not a sign of the club and him coming to an agreement about him staying there, he has been talking to souths players after saying he hasnt (players were named and none of those players have said this was a lie), it is in the email seibold was told bennett would start on december 3rd. What a ridiculous blanket statement...

I've got to the stage where I honestly don't care anymore about who is to blame, who did what to whom, or who said this or that. Even if Wayne got his full payout, then so be it. What the board ended up paying him is irrelevant in the whole scheme of things I think. Am just glad it is settled once and for all, and we now know with certainty who is leading us in 2019. Also, hopefully the end of the shitty negativity that has been surrounding the club, and us fans at BHQ, for most of this year.

Looking forward to seeing what plans Seibs has in mind for us going forward and getting back to squabbling about team selections and the usual heated Macca/Birdy/Milf discussions lol.

I am. We have never been a stronger position off the field and a coach had never had a better platform in the true salary cap era to win a premiership then what paul white is providing our current or past coaches. He is massively succeding in what would be his EXACT job description.

They did imply Wayne’s behaviour made them change their minds. I don’t think we will ever get the full story, but it was made clear Wayne could not coexist with his employers.

I dont disagree there and Im sure I have provided some ironic or hypocritical points of views i havent seen or wanted to realise, but personally i see a lot more coming from one direction of the argument..
