Oh dear...you were being serious?

Sorry.

Of course I was being serious.

Why don't you just come out and say something instead of carrying of carrying on with the passive aggressive nonsense

Said the pot to the kettle... :aetsch:

I was pretty pissed off to hear Crash' comment about White wanting out if Hook was hooked.

Hopefully it's not true as it makes us look like a rabble .... in an area of a club that needs to be strong and united (the front office)

I seriously doubt WB will come back anyway...it's what a lot of people expect, and he doesn't exactly do things to suit the masses anyway.

Titans might be a real chance though seeing as though they are having a major review of how they operate.

Well White has been in charge during the Salary Cap debacle so he can probably take his lunch box and go if those are his true feelings. I want Hook to succeed as much as anyone but he hasn't and it is only his own fault.

You realise there is a difference between sarcasm and being a passive-aggressive dipshit right?

If Bennett does it does get rid off anthony griffin that plays players out of position and if hook goes then hoffman wont be favoured be bennett

This being a results driven competition, why do we want a coach who's just run away from his post with his tail between his legs after a complete failure of 3 years as head coach?

I think the Knights maybe wanted Bennett to fix everything with the club, but he's seen it can't be fixed at the highest level. Add that to the fact that "reportedly", he hasn't been paid for a while and it's easy to see why he would want out. I don't think he's running away, I think he's seen the ugly underbelly of the club and wants out for that reason.

In today's article re: salary cap investigation, it was reported that we tried to get him back after he left the Dragons with an offer of 950k a year (a figure that still would have made him the highest paid coach ever).

But apparently he turned us down because the offer was "disrespectful".

If true this is a fact that IMO, can't be ignored.

Also if true means that he wouldn't be coming back for the love of the club or to restore the club to it's former glories. He will be coming back for the zeros on the end of his pay check.

Hmmm I suppose des hasler gives his very moderate salary to the homeless?

I have nothing against him earning that money but to claim that figure is disrespectful is a joke.

It's worth noting that there wasn't a direct quote from the man himself, but very possibly, just more journo rubbish to sell papers.

Which is why I preceeded my comment with "if it's true" :top:

Crash is normally on the money but he's not right here. The stance was rumoured during the off-season but White denied it. Crash is a bit behind in this case i think.

Or just using an old rumour to try and bolster an argument?

Be interesting to see how it pans out. If Broncos expect top 4 finishes and they don't get it again this year, interesting to see how much their public words mean...

HE Broncos have got their man if they want him, with Wayne Bennett informing club directors he is ready to come home to rebuild the Brisbane empire he created.
And while the five-person Broncos board has yet to reach a unanimous verdict on Bennett, club legend Darren Lockyer shapes as the key.
Bennett has indicated he will return to Red Hill if the head coaching spot is available after a series of meetings with board members Dennis Watt and Tony Joseph.
“The Broncos have approached Wayne and he will come back if a job is there,” a well-placed source said.

Bennett’s second coming hinges on the Broncos’ board, who convene this Tuesday in what shapes as one of the most significant meetings in the club’s 25-year history.
As Broncos’ coach Anthony Griffin fights to keep his job, it has emerged:
■ The Broncos are now the frontrunners to secure Bennett, who is also being pursued by the Dragons, the club he led to the 2010 premiership;
■ Kevin Walters is slated to be part of Bennett’s staff, almost a decade after he was sacked by the master coach as his assistant;
■ The Broncos’ playing group is divided, with a faction keen to see Bennett back; and
■ At least two board members are not convinced the club can win a premiership under Griffin.
Despite being linked to the Dragons, who have the financial muscle to fund his return, Bennett is keen to again coach the club he led to six titles.

The onus rests firmly with the Brisbane board. If they have the gumption to terminate Griffin, possibly as early as this week, it could be the final step in securing Brisbane’s foundation coach.
Griffin is contracted until the end of 2015 but the board must confront growing sentiment that the 47-year-old cannot deliver the glory years cultivated by Bennett.
The pursuit of Bennett was hatched in May, involving a number of trips to Newcastle to visit the Knights’ coach.
WARRIORS SNUB PUSHES BENNY TO BRISBANE
BRISBANE STAND DOWN THREE PLAYERS
Respected board members Joseph and Watt, a News Limited executive who helped broker the sale of the Melbourne Storm, have had informal talks with Bennett, who is reluctant to enter formal negotiations with any club that has a contracted coach. But Joseph and Watt are acutely aware if the board jettisons Griffin, they will have the inside running on the Dragons.
They have also not forgotten the machinations of 2011, when Bennett looked certain to join Brisbane after Ivan Henjak’s axing, only to make a shock defection to Newcastle.

hile the Dragons could offer Bennett $1 million annually, the 64-year-old is keen to return home to help wife, Trish, raise their son, Justin.
Ironically, Lockyer, Bennett’s former skipper, is a key political pawn. Lockyer is one of five people on the Broncos’ board, the others being Joseph, Watt, Katie Bickford and Jeff Harvie. Given Lockyer’s footballing gravitas, his opinion could sway the board.
BENNETT LOST INTEREST AFTER MCKINNON INJURY
Sources claim Lockyer is the final impediment to a successful raid. The Broncos’ icon is a huge admirer of Bennett but believes Griffin deserves every chance to deliver the club’s first title since 2006.

Currently holidaying in Fiji, Lockyer will not be present at Tuesday’s board meeting, which will be chaired by Watt.

oncos’ CEO Paul White, Griffin’s strongest ally, is not a board member but has reporting responsibilities and will back the coach to the hilt.
Club legend Steve Renouf praised Griffin’s character but believes Bennett, who delivered Brisbane’s first and last titles 14 years apart, is in a league of his own.
“It’s time to bring Wayne back,” he said.
“I just think it’s timely, this team we have, the influence of someone like Wayne, he can push it to the next level.
MASON WAITS ON BENNETT TO DECIDE FUTURE
“I like some of the footy we’ve been playing but these close games we’ve been losing, I don’t think it would be happening under Wayne and that’s the difference.
“I’m not bagging Hook, he’s a good bloke and a good coach, but Wayne can take that club to the next level ... (and) “It’s either going to be Brisbane or the Gold Coast, it’s only my take on it but I’m pretty sure he wants to be back home with Trish and the kids.

“I’ve heard he is open to coming back. He’s there for the taking and personally I think it will have a lot to do with his family. “

Despite calling for the Broncos to move on from Bennett, club great Gorden Tallis was unequivocal when asked where the master coach would be in 2015.
“Brisbane,” Tallis told Triple M.
“I think he’s got St George on a hook, there is a job there if he wants it ... but he is waiting for Brisbane to make up their mind.”
Broncos shareholder Phil Murphy said while Bennett had a big offer from St George, his family was in Brisbane — “and I know how much he loves his family.”

“I heard Wayne is going to make his decision within seven days, if he is going to do that you lean towards the Dragons, but I think it might be a bit longer than that.”

Just before quitting the Knights last week, Bennett exclusively told The Sunday Mail he had several options.
“I’m not without opportunities,” he said.
“If I take them I don’t know. There are options out there, but if not I will bide my time and wait 12 months if I’m not happy with the options.
“I won’t speculate on preference.”

Broncos shareholder Phil Murphy refused to be critical of Griffin but accused some players of laughing off last week’s crushing 35-34 loss to Penrith.

“Anthony Griffin is a very good coach, but Wayne is the champion of coaches,” he said. “I’ve heard a lot of gossip and you hear things that are so far from left field it’s not funny. I’m not involved in the day to day activities of the club.

“Seeing some players laughing and joking after the side has just been beaten in the final minute, that was pretty disturbing.
“I think it’s a mental thing, in any sport if you’re five per cent off you aren’t going to win. It’s an 80-minute game not a 60-minute game.
“Apparently Wayne has a big offer from St George, but his family is here in Brisbane and I know how much he loves his family.”

I wont bore you guys with another rant because you all know my feelings on a possible Bennett return...

But I will say this... Even though I think getting him back is a mistake, if he does come back I will give him my full support. Like have done in the past and with both Griffin and Henjak.
