Tallis is another who thinks it would be a step back for us to sign Bennett.
Here is one quote from his article in the courier mail this morning.

Everyone knows my position re: Bennett returning but I will say this, if what Tallis says is true and he is no longer up for the fight, the he should retire now. And if he is not prepared to do that, he can at least do the club he help build a favor and stay the **** away.
We don't need a coach who is not prepared to fight.

We all know Benny doesn’t say much and when he does say something, we should listen. I reckon the message from his media conference when he announced he was leaving the Knights early was that he might not be up for the fight any more.
He said he was looking for a “challenge” and there’s the crux of the whole matter for me.
Everyone knows what’s happened at Newcastle this year
There were the off-field distractions of Russell Packer being jailed and Willie Mason going for drink-driving, then there were a few bad injuries followed by the terrible injury to Alex McKinnon.
I would have thought there was no greater challenge than staying there and turning the Knights around and if Bennett was truly up for a challenge, he would have stayed.
Instead, he’s walking away.
