Wayne Bennett quits Knights... Is he coming back?

Griffin would be the best coach ever to play under.. you never have to train hard, he never yells at you or gets remotely angry, you only have to remember 1 set play, and you get to eat more and become fat... who wouldn't want to play under him?

Nailed it!

Don't know what to make of this ... putting aside the 'we don't need wayne' element, this sounds like a playing group that's in a comfort zone with their current coach and content to stay there. If this message was coming from a veteran playing group who'd done the rounds with the Haslers and Bellamys of this world, maybe then I'd take it on face value that Griffin is worth sticking with.

IMO the truth is if a coach like Des Hasler came to the Broncos and turned the joint on its ear like he did at the Bulldogs, our guys would get the rudest shock of their football lives thus far. But they'd all be so much better for it in the long run.

But since this is being said by a group of footballers who are standing behind their coach and taking responsibility for their own actions, it must mean there's trouble afoot.

:shot:

I don't doubt the playing group does like Griffin, but there is a disconnect between the idea that this guy is a great coach (as everyone within the club keeps insisting he is) the resources he has available to him at a club like the Broncos and the results he has achieved, particularly in the post Lockyer era.

That disconnect cannot be under-stated and even Parker acknowledged NRL is a 'results driven industry'. Assistant coaches, trainers, players and even a Captain have already been sacked because the performances aren't good enough. The one person primarily responsible for delivering results however has been untouchable so far.

One can only hope the excuses are beginning to fall on deaf ears. Griffin has had four years to demonstrate he is up to the task. To put his stamp on the team and recruit the team he wants. The current results are reflective entirely of Hook and while I wouldn't want to see Paul White go, his 'threat' of leaving if Griffin is sacked, is hardly a fine example of the lofty example the club allegedly sets...

I have always been a big defender of white but was shocked when I heard crash say that. If white honestly thinks that he can **** off too. What a childish and ridiculous thing to say

Agree completely. The Broncos supposedly pride themselves on professionalism, if threatening to leave because your mate is sacked because of extensive poor performance is the current idea of being 'professional', well I can only say that professionalism is nothing but a throwaway buzz word amongst that lot and it's no wonder we came 12th last year and are seemingly headed that way again.

If that is the case, then I'm all for getting Bennett back because this club will have seriously lost it's way and the ship needs righting by the best in the business.

Have you got a source for this alleged Paul White threat?

Ok ... if (and that's a fairly big IF given that it's apparently come from a riddler like crash craddock) that's really white's attitude, he needs to be sacked along with those who appointed him as CEO.

Crash is a funny guy but he isn't afraid to embellish or twist a story he sees fit to get a point across.

Put it this way, I wouldn't bet a cent on it being anywhere near true.
