I'm not trivializing this at all. He clearly was already depressed but this just heightened his sense of depression, made him upset, etc. Call it what you will, but when you are depressed, hopefully, eventually u realise it so u can seek help, and this might have been the trigger that really hit home.

Although when you are making out like getting knocked back by the raiders as caused him to have depression I do have to disagree with you

He doesn't owe the media but I think he owes the game that gives him so much a certain level of engagement. Answering a couple of football related questions doesn't seem like it is a big deal, even if it is to the media.

And not answering a couple of football related questions doesn't seem like a big deal either. I don't care how he feels after a win. He did an interview on the Footy Show apparently. Maybe if it was an organized interview he would be ok with it.

The way I see it, if you wish to be a media darling ,fine. If you don't ,fine. If you want to have a high profile you must accept the intrusions, if you wish to remain a private person shunning publicity , fine. What you are paid or what profession you have has no bearing with the proviso ,excluding professions that require that media input.

Darius was never coming to Brisbane other than to visit family and friends.

The media have obviously created a lot of drama in Boyds life and if he wants to give them nothing then so be it.

Boyd has created the drama in his life.

He is still pissed that the media were not on his side regarding toiletgate. (he blamed the Broncos for not 'supporting' him)

The media treated Thaiday & Hunt the same way. (they just decided to get on with their lives, instead of blaming the media for their woes)

Now thankful Boyd has gotten help.

The rumors of willie mason following bennett to the broncos are heading up around the place. .. Could this be the enforcing prop we are searching for?

What does this forum think? 1, do you think he could be on the cards? And 2, do you think if so, he will be a hit with the broncos? Or will his recent off field issues deny him a contract at Red Hill?

Don't see him coming and we don't need him.

Get the feeling Benny only picked him up because Mason's roots were in Newcastle. Seemed to be big about recruiting players who came from Newcastle (Tahu, Quinn, Buderus, McKinnon, Rochow etc.)

Completely agree with you on this, very serious illness, and who knows how deep seated the issues are and how long he has been struggling with him. I just wish him all the best and hope he makes a good recovery.

I suffer depression/ bi polar etc. (So I can be opinionated about it)

Boyd has had major problems for years, well before he was a footballer.

It's a shame he didn't get help earlier on, maybe he was in denial or refused to get help. I am sure others would have noticed his behaviour & I am hoping they tried to help him. I hope they didn't just ignore it, because he was a footy player.

IMO: That's one of the reasons he follows WB everywhere he goes. He needs to cling onto the same sort of 'routine' & WB seems to be the only person he truly trusts.

I am sure you all can tell when I am 'really' on a downer, as I take everything to heart & post like a bitch possessed. (not posting madly, posting when possessed by the demon. :laugh:)

Top post Kaz. No one can understand the illness like someone that suffers from it. Hopefully you sharing this gives people some insight to it.

The amount of people on other forums and social media saying he is faking it so daddy will take him or that he needs to man up is pathetic and infuriating
