Wayne Bennett related player movement discussion

Re: willie mason

If he came really cheap and wouldn't mind being a bench player, then I don't mind if he does come.

I don't think it's the best move, anyway. We have Garbutt coming to the club, and our props would perform much better under Griffin so we don't necessarily need Mason.

I would prefer Broncos used the money to find another backrower. Another Eastwood would be good. I don't think Broncos should keep Glenn. He really isn't much of a forward, perhaps he should consider making the transition to the back line.

Re: Darius Boyd return?

Take it with a grain of salt, but I heard gordie on triple m this morning saying Darius will be a bronco next year, with hoffman and barba to be cut loose

I'm not sure how much Tallis would know, I doubt he's in Bennett's loop much these days.

But it would be a stupid move IMHO. If Bennett is our "savior" as many people are saying, then he should have Barba back to his Dally M form next year

Re: Darius Boyd return?

I'm hoping Boyd's recent problems don't sway Bennett to feel like he has to "save him" by bringing him year. Hoffman and Barba > Boyd, and as Foordy said, if bennett is really as good as everyone seems to think he is, he should resurrect barba's career

Re: Darius Boyd return?

Tallis says a lot of things. Something tells me he just likes being on TV and the radio.

He knows **** all about player movements when it's regarding the Broncos. I recall Tallis saying Benji was coming to the Broncos...

Re: willie mason

I'd take him on a cheap, one year deal to play off the bench. Come on, just run hard and straight and fight for the quick play the ball - absolutely smash ***** in defence, then get a rest.

Yeah this is my thoughts exactly. Cheap one year deal I would actually be very happy with it. Outside of that, no

Re: Darius Boyd return?

Even the media are wise to Tallis' anti-Bennett agenda.

Not entirely implausible, given the circumstances. As you've mentioned though, hardly the most credible source. I'm taking that with KFC levels of sodium.

Re: willie mason

One of the big reasons I don't want him at the club is because he can be very vocal and stir up trouble in an instance because he throws his weight around. Plus I'm fairly certain our front row rotation isn't that bad that we actually need him. We have some decent size unlike Newcastle.

Re: Darius Boyd return?

In what way?

In price ...

Barba has more play making skill than Boyd. At his best more dynamic and dangerous than Boyd,

Hoffman is very safe under the high ball, better defensively, better running game than Boyd. Great finisher on the wing.

Re: Darius Boyd return?

In all honesty though, I don't think anyone knows what Boyd will be doing next season (including Boyd himself) especially given his problems ATM.

All they're doing is assuming he will follow Bennett (a fair assumption to make given his history)

Barba and Hoffmans contracts are cheaper than what Boyds by itself would be? Play making ability maybe, but not from fullback. At his best, well duh. But who is at their best more often?

Hoffmans running game is great, until he get's hurt after every single hit up. He even limped away after he knocked the ball dead with nobody near him the other night. Boyd is far more evasive than Hoffman too. Can actually score or set up tries from fullback. And Boyd is also a great finisher on the wing.
