What is happening at the Broncos?

But Kahu is average everywhere except the wing, Barba was doing drugs, Milford was brought in as a five-eight and Kodi is a bench utility. Boyd has been better than what all of them, except possibly what Milford would have brought at fullback. Despite what you think, Boyd has been really good for us. He was great until Slater was handed the fullback spot that Boyd had rightfully earned. That's a good two and a half years of really good footy Boyd has given us. The last half of 2017 wasn't great but you're acting like 2015 was his only good year and that is absolute bullshit.

Bennetts only mistake was letting go of Taylor, but Hunt had earned and locked down that halfback spot at the time. He let him go because he wanted to play first grade but hadn't surpassed Hunt, then when we wanted him back he said no for a million dollar contract at the Titans. You might struggle to admit it, but he's fucked us just as much as Bennett has.

The blame lies in a few places. First, Wayne Bennett. I think tactically he has failed us. I think this happens because of how many blokes we have running seperate parts of the team. I can't fault him in signing Bird yet because we haven't seen what he can do for us.

Second, Anthony Milford. Him signing such a big contract has made it impossible to sign a halfback to play alongside him. He hasn't added anything new to his game since he's signed with us. He's obviously a bad learner.

Third, Boyd. He definitely shouldn't have signed such a long contract and should be moved from fullback for his own sake. He has slowed down but people were blaming his hamstring for the way he was running last week but he got kneed straight in the balls on the tackle before.

Fourth, Thaiday. This is also a fault of Bennett. Last year should have been his last year. I don't understand why Hodges and Parker got tapped on the shoulder but Thaiday didn't. Although the million dollar fox contracts could have had something to do with is,

Fifth, Ashley Taylor. For reasons said above. I think he's the only one who has intentionally fucked us around. I know it's a business but he's a Titan now so **** him and the Raging Bull he rode in on.

Sixth, Ben Hunt. We all know why. Also when Cooper Cronk signed with the Roosters he said he wouldn't be giving them the Storms secrets. Hunt did the exact opposite.

Honestly seeing our performance, and knowing that a lot of our 'big names' have sort of peaked already, Boyd, Gillett, Mcguire, Thaiday, Milford etc. I actually don't see us making the 8... Almost every other team in the comp have seen improvements to their roster. We have gone sideways at best.

Add to the fact that Boyd is a woeful captain and moves slower than a 90 year old on a mobility scooter, I think we are done. Bennet has tarnished his whole legacy in the past 8 years. He destroyed the Knights (with the help of tinkler), and is now likely doing similar to us by signing his illegitimate son for 4 years past his use-by.

If the Broncos don't make the 8, Walters and Demetriou will also be out of favour as they have been part of the team. Broncos have every resource at their disposal yet have struggled to retain their youth, and recruit new players. A change is coming, and I hope it's Paul Green.

Seventh, Corvo gone to the Warriors. We looked either way underdone or way overdone fitness wise and really struggled keeping up. We just weren't ready for the start of the season, injuries to key players did play a part in this.

Me neither and the thought never crossed my mind. It's a bit like adultary, You do it once and you live with the guilt for ever.
I'm the same, I could never bring myself to tip against them which is probably why I never win any tipping comps. Even during the dark years of the Hook regime when I knew they wouldn't win, my stubbornness remained with me. They are a 1000/1 at winning this weekend but that won't influence my tip.

I disagree that Corvo is already a loss. We looked wrecked at the end of a few games last year too. I do wonder how we would have looked if players just held onto the ball. Our metres made would have been higher and our tackles would have been lower.

This is an interesting comment, we also labelled Ben Hunt a bad learner because he never really improved his kicking game or game management all that much when he was with us, and now Milford is also suffering from a stagnation in development. In fact, has anyone really massively improved or added anything notable to their arsenal for us in the last 5 years? McCullough is essentially the same player he was 5 years ago, so is McGuire, so is Gillett, etc, etc..

Maybe we have poor teachers, is what I'm saying.

But Walters is there training the halves, wasn't he supposed to fix them? From the ages of 20 to 25 all of those blokes got better, whereas Milford was really good at 20 and has gone backwards. He shouldn't be going backwards already

I vomit in my mouth when I see Ash Taylor play. 4 try assists and a 40/20. It makes me physically sick.

I'm sure it's similar to how Bulldogs fans watched JT playing for the Cowboys on their dime in 2005.

It's bullshit to say Ash Taylor intentionally screwed us over. He looked after himself and got the best contract he could for himself. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

If it ever comes out that he went back on his word with Bennett and the Broncos would you say otherwise?

I would, ( and from what i know there was never anything like that in place ) but at the same time, things and circumstances change. He isnt going to sacrifice $300-350k to come back and play for us when he can get a million a year elsewhere. Im pretty sure you wouldnt, i know i wouldnt. You can have the best intentions sometimes, but like i said, things change. I'm positive if we offered an identical amount of money to the Titans, he would be a Bronco.

I'd cop half the salary to play for the Broncos. Not only do I love the club and would be sickened playing anywhere else, but the Broncos/ Brisbane look after their players post-footy. Taylor for example, does he want to finish his career a GC (how long will the club be around?) legend with zero prems, or a Broncos legend the equal of Locky with multiple comp wins? He'll probably end back here anyway, he's said as much.

Ash is on insane money for his current ability. Manly are bang average at the moment, and they shelled out Taylor like money for DCE who actually has proven himself at club level, plus they usually have a better eye for juniors than the Tits, whose primary strategy is signing our and Penrith's rookies on extreme overs.

Broncos used to have the dollar advantage, but it seems now we cant compete with that. 1M per year in Sydney at the Dragons is about 700 per year in Brisbane lifestyle wise.
