What is happening at the Broncos?

I am quietly hopeful that they are going to start building towards something this season in the next 4 to 8 rounds. But realistically I think we are a couple of pieces missing from being a genuine premiership contender.

The future is looking pretty bright if we can retain our younger talent.

Not seeing it for this year without some taking some gambles and dramatic action on underperformance. But despite injuries and poor strategy should have enough cattle to make the 8.

Agree there is enough there to build on. Shed some dead wood in Sims and Thaiday, get a halfback somehow and get Boyd out of fullback. Retain at least one of Lodge and TPJ preferably both and a couple of young gun forwards. Do that with some better defensive structures and add a little wrestling and we could be a powerhouse for next 5-6 years.

Not about the win/loss, more about WB..
Is this supposed to be some kind of revelation? I'm very critical of the cost/benefit ratio of Milford, Bird and Boyd. And very critical of Bennett for signing them for that much for that long. I don't make any secret of it. I hope I'm proved wrong but at this point, I can't see it. Milford is probably the best of the 3. I don't pay attention too much to who says what. I only pay attention to comments, not who makes them but I think I'm far from the only one critical about this.

Thanks for waiting. A few weeks when Brown made his comments which I found very amusing, many people, players, player managers, club officials, journalists and others came out and said mostly said his (Brown's) personal comments were uncalled for but it was true Bennett had left Newcastle in a terrible mess as far as the roster and salary cap was concerned. I mean, after signing Buderus, Smith, Scott, Mason, Tahu, Fa'alogao, Cuthbertson, and the icing on the the cake, a 35 or 36 year-old Craig Gower to a squad which already contained Gidley, Mullen, Houston, McManus, Taia, Costigan and I'm sure others (enough Wikipedia research for me on this. I really have some work to do or I will fall behind:angry:) was patently absurd and it's obvious why Brown was obviously furious about Bennett's comments.
No worries but I am bitterly dissapointed j your argument. Really poor actually.

Out of all those players you mentioned how many were contracted past 2014????? Let me tell you: Mullen (newcastles favourite son at the time) had 2 years left and no one could have predicted his injury hit last few years, kurt gidley, Chris Houston, Faalogo and smith all finished their contracts the next year. The others were all already moved on whilst Bennett was there, they were brought in for experience anyway because the local talent was shit, he had to develop them (eg heighington, Lillyman now, putting the locals in too early gave you 3 wooden spoons hahaha). Scott was contracted for 2 more years but he played great at the eels 3 years later, was still playing for the blues whilst contracted to the knights. Now let me give you a list of players signed by Bennett or brought through, then you'll see some that brown let go, absolute numpty. Btw, McManus played origin in 2013

Sione mata'utai
Dane gagai (lost by brown)
Joey leuliua (released, unbelievable)
Joseph tapine (released, seriously lol)
Nathan Ross
Dani Levi
Korbin Sims
Robbie Rochow
Jake Mamo
Adam Cuthbertson (nominated for player of the year in England, he plays in the forwards, an area England doesn't lag too far behind the nrl in talent wise)
Akila Uate (was an Australian rep winger remember???)

All these guys played great footy to get you flogs to a preliminary final, you win 3 wooden spoons after Bennett warned knights fans the juniors weren't up to it without experienced players to help, & you blame him for it. What a shit culture that club must have haha. Is it his fault the next coach can't coach? That club will finish bottom 4 90% of the time for the rest of its existence due to the pathetic culture of "it's not our fault" it has...

Before writing off Thaiday and Sims, consider the value having experienced players has in developing the young guys. You can’t just have a pack made from rookies. Development is slow and changing of the guard is a process. Plus to all the angry posters out there, chin up. Been seeing some good signs from our team and that’s after losing our halfback, blooding young players, half the spine missing pre-season, surgery recovery for key players and then a bunch of new injuries. Can’t win every game, but they are definitely improving. They’re definitely exceeding my earlier expections for this season.

Why do you keep raving about Brown? I'm talking about what Bennett did at Newcastle, not what Brown has done. I don't really have an opinion on the latter. I could give one but don't really care enough. It seems the people who matter, the Newcastle front office, are very happy with Brown and very resentful toward Bennett. What does that suggest to you?

Agree can’t have a pack of Rookies but experience benefits are likely far outweighed by poor performance, in Thaidays case make the same stupid mistakes and failure to lead by example. Otherwise just teaching the young blokes to take the piss. When fit have a pack with McCullough, Macca, Gillo, Glenn for experience. Be nice if Sims or Thaiday were earning their spot and giving experience bonus but barring an odd good game they are not. Taga has experience and deserves an opportunity to share it.

It suggests to me that you are a Newcastle Knights fan.

Leuliua wasn't very good for Knights

McCullough and Macca are the same person aren't they?

You mean the people who were in charge of the finances and have went on to proceed over the worst period in the clubs history are looking to blame someone who hasn't been there for 4 years? And you listen to them because...?

And these nameless men you speak of, they are happy with brown are they? Like Canberra are happy with Ricky Stuart? Like parra are happy with Arthur? Who cares if they are or aren't, once again you are using opinion (very biased opinion btw-looking to blame someone else for their failings) above FACTS. In your arguments you haven't debated one point I made outside of the one I just proved wrong, I don't care who people with agendas blame. I'll give you an example of a good basis for your theory rather then just what people inn the media say, are the knights so pissed off with how Bennett set up their development that they stopped using his development systems? Do you have inside information about Bennett signing shit players to 5 year contracts on millions of dollars the year he left? Did Bennett discourage juniors from signing with the club? HOW is he responsible for the clubs pathetic performances 3 years later? And give a better response then "because they don't like him" this time.... once again, stating something without having any evidence as to why that is the case is an OPINION, opinions don't make something true (eg kents rants on 360 that have obviously had a strong influence on your OPINION)...

I think you need to build a bridge with your Newcastle shit buddy !

It suggests to me that you are a Newcastle Knights fan.

ok. This is getting kind of ridiculous. Someone, asked me when I joined. I couldn't remember but the person later told me it was right after the Newcastle loss. Apparently this made me a Newcastle supporter. So the way this person arrived at that conclusion was that I was upset after the Newcastle loss and got on here and denounced Milford, Bird, Boyd and Bennett. I guess it could be reverse psychology. Or maybe that person is practicing reverse psychology by branding me a Newcastle supporter. What do you think?

Yep...definitely a Knights fan.

See above.

Cool man. Your knowledge of the Newcastle front office seemed like something a fan of Newcastle would know. I don't know shit about the front offices of other clubs I don't support.

It was in a News Ltd article just this week. I believe Tuesday but it may have been Wednesday or Monday. Maybe they are wrong. I don't know but I presume they have some insider knowledge.

You mean the people who were in charge of the finances and have went on to proceed over the worst period in the clubs history are looking to blame someone who hasn't been there for 4 years? And you listen to them because...?

See above about the News Ltd article and why do you keep raving about Brown? I could give an opinion but I just don't care enough. I'm just over Bennett and I believe by re-signing my 3 pet peeves for that much money and for that length of time, he is either senile or putting some personal agenda above the good of the club and team. I hope he proves me wrong but at this stage, I can't see it.

And BTW, he left Newcastle in a monumental mess. Worse than Hasler at Manly and it's looking like worse than Hasler at Canterbury. By saying that, does it make me a Newcastle/Manly/Canterbury supporter? If not, why not?

I think you need to build a bridge with your Newcastle shit buddy !

Huh?

I’m glad he left Newcastle in a mess, cause f*ck Newcastle.

Sure. I don't care. I would prefer it had been Melbourne or Sydney Roosters. Regardless, I just hope the same process isn't in motion now. Can you seriously see any reason why he re-signed Boyd on big money for 4 years? I can't. I think he is putting the financial well-being of Boyd ahead of the team.
