What is happening at the Broncos?

Probably a bit early to say, considering, you know, they've never played in the same team together..

I think we need to calm down a bit. I chucked a bit of a wobbly about Lodge as I was pretty hungover on Friday but I think we need to stress less. People are writing Bird off as a failure and he's never even worn a Broncos jersey.

We don't know what plans Bennett has for him, and Milf was 35 minutes back from a shoulder reconstruction.

People were calling Milf a failure after round one in 15 and he went on to have a belting season.

We were obviously diabolical on Thursday night, but I fully expect a better perfomance on Friday.

The worst thing about Bird's injury is we need him now. He may be coming into a team that has lost 4 or 5 straight games devoid of confidence - and he is not Jesus.

Imagine what this place will be like if we start 0/5 like we did in 1999.

Good place, yes. Not good enough to beat the actual contenders, Storm and Cows. The club is sitting around also ran status - I'm not happy with that, personally, but then, I'd also support the fuckers even if we win the spoon.

Just be honest mate, Cows are now number one. Something isn't right here. Players? Wayne? Both?

Can we get over '15? Or does it require a new generation?
They have one of the best players ever leading them around and somehow keep their players year after year. The answer was obvious.

I judge my coaches on how they do at clubs without their superstars.
That’s why I think bennett is the best ever, because of the Dragons premiership. Bellamy cheated and got comfortable with three of the best players ever at the same time. Green has Thurston leading them around. I’d love to see how they’d do with another team

Are you kidding. I agree Bennett is a great coach but that Dragons team had been building for years. He had plenty of great players in that team.

It's irrelevant. Wayne has this team. Green was seconds from being an also ran, despite Thurston. I also think Bennett is the best ever, but for whatever reason, shit ain't clicking the last two years. Something isn't working - what is it exactly? Can he fix it?

But he was able to take them to the next level, something that his predecessors were unable to do. Not to mention the 2007 Broncos who had the worst injury toll in their history but still finished 8th. The 2013 Knights is another prime example. Never underestimate the value of this great man. As long as he is running the show, the Broncos are capable of anything, even this seemingly " rag tag" roster. He will leave on his terms and I'm hoping it's not for another 20 years yet.

People calling for calm after Round 1 need to remind themselves of 1 thing: We haven't won in 12 (twelve) years. The time for calm is finished, and the reality of our situation has started - we have a non-premiership winning football team.

We can't do anything about it from where we sit, but we can vent our frustrations and our fears of watching another freaking year go by. Especially when they dish up that dross.

I don't think we will miss the finals, but I can't see us winning the whole thing unless there's a freaking miracle. Starting with our hooker and his ability to get our forwards rolling on - and our front office cloning the remains of Cyril Connell and getting him out there to find the next Darren Lockyer and Shane Webcke, could we clone them too - even though they're still alive? Hmmm.

Totally agree. The cold hard reality. I believe we can be a Premiership winning side in 2020 though when are young forwards have more experience.

Can I ask something off topic for a sec?

How can you have nearly six and a half thousand posts and only five hundred likes??

Same goes for a few others on here - only asking out of curiosity - how does that work?

Id trade bird for Taylor for sure. Fuks me why Bennett went that way !!!

The time for calm is finished

Time for calm is precisely right now.

It'll be another 20 years of drought if we panic, make mad changes over a loss etc.

Our record since Bennett's return has been exceptional. If not for a fluke end of season result for the cows we have been second only to the storm during this period.

Head down, work hard, and build quiet confidence. We can match it with anyone with the team we have.

There’s no use debating if you’re still under the impression that Bennet is trying to make Milford a halfback. He needs to add new things to his game, like any 20 year old or **** off and play rugby or something where he doesn’t need any new skills. Boyd was a better option than all of those guys, especially Kahu who is a winger and that is it. Milford was always brought in as a five eight anyway.

1 Barba
6 Milford
7 Taylor

We’d need 10 Tonie Carroll’s to fill the holes in defence they’d make. The only problem with boyd is the length of his current contract because the last one was fine. He was a big part in our 2015 season when he returned.

I’m defending his previous contract which was the issue you originally had that you’re now claiming to be right about. You can’t preface it with “people who don’t agree with me need not read on so my argument and bragging about being right years after being proven wrong isn’t disputed” and then make a comment about someone replying.

His new contract is shit, unless he moves to centre or wing where hopefully he will flourish. But we did not have a better option for fullback and it was absolutely best for the team. 18 year old Taylor wasn’t ready and I have no doubt that he was part of the future plans and I hope he didn’t go back on his word regarding a return
There is indeed no use debating when you keep twisting my words, like you did with that bold bit.
As usual, you're interpreting this the way you see the world, but I'm not here to get a pat in the back or see my opinions undisputed. I wouldn't be in a discussion forum posting my ideas for everyone to argue if that was my intention.

Boyd's really not as good a fullback as you try to make him out to be, neither are the other players as bad as you make them out to be, especially Kahu, who was very good for us at fullback in 2015 (arguably as good as Boyd was that same year) and is being thrown on the garbage heap for your agenda's sake.
Boyd's last quality season as a fullback was 2010 at the time he joined us, and even then, he could only dream of being as good as Barba or Milford at their best.
Regardless, it doesn't matter whether he was better than the others. We simply DID NOT need him, especially given what it cost us. Only players of the calibre of a Smith or Thurston are worth that kind of investment, and he's not even close to that.

Your defense argument continues to be invalid... halves have never been recruited for their defensive ability. We had one of the biggest speed bumps ever wearing the 6 for many years in our team. Besides, it's not like we're better off with Niko and Mifl in the halves.
Boyd is certainly very good at directing the defense, but he hasn't show desperation or willingness to put his body on the line for a long time (way before his hammy issues).

P.S. Stop demonising Ashley. You have zero idea what his discussions with Bennett were. Wayne could've perfectly told him to take the money on offer.

I'm almost certain all parties said this is what happened, or at least alluded to it when Taylor left.

This is where I stopped reading. How I see the world? Please elaborate on how I see the world?

Because most of her posts would have been before the like system was implemented, so the ratio is skewed to newer posters who joined up or had the bulk of their posts after that date, which I think was like a year or two ago? Don't remember exactly.
