There’s no use debating if you’re still under the impression that Bennet is trying to make Milford a halfback. He needs to add new things to his game, like any 20 year old or **** off and play rugby or something where he doesn’t need any new skills. Boyd was a better option than all of those guys, especially Kahu who is a winger and that is it. Milford was always brought in as a five eight anyway.
1 Barba
6 Milford
7 Taylor
We’d need 10 Tonie Carroll’s to fill the holes in defence they’d make. The only problem with boyd is the length of his current contract because the last one was fine. He was a big part in our 2015 season when he returned.
I’m defending his previous contract which was the issue you originally had that you’re now claiming to be right about. You can’t preface it with “people who don’t agree with me need not read on so my argument and bragging about being right years after being proven wrong isn’t disputed” and then make a comment about someone replying.
His new contract is shit, unless he moves to centre or wing where hopefully he will flourish. But we did not have a better option for fullback and it was absolutely best for the team. 18 year old Taylor wasn’t ready and I have no doubt that he was part of the future plans and I hope he didn’t go back on his word regarding a return
There is indeed no use debating when you keep twisting my words, like you did with that bold bit.
As usual, you're interpreting this the way you see the world, but I'm not here to get a pat in the back or see my opinions undisputed. I wouldn't be in a
discussion forum posting my ideas for everyone to argue if that was my intention.
Boyd's really not as good a fullback as you try to make him out to be, neither are the other players as bad as you make them out to be, especially Kahu, who was very good for us at fullback in 2015 (arguably as good as Boyd was that same year) and is being thrown on the garbage heap for your agenda's sake.
Boyd's last quality season as a fullback was 2010 at the time he joined us, and even then, he could only dream of being as good as Barba or Milford at their best.
Regardless, it doesn't matter whether he was better than the others. We simply DID NOT need him, especially given what it cost us. Only players of the calibre of a Smith or Thurston are worth that kind of investment, and he's not even close to that.
Your defense argument continues to be invalid... halves have never been recruited for their defensive ability. We had one of the biggest speed bumps ever wearing the 6 for many years in our team. Besides, it's not like we're better off with Niko and Mifl in the halves.
Boyd is certainly very good at directing the defense, but he hasn't show desperation or willingness to put his body on the line for a long time (way before his hammy issues).
P.S. Stop demonising Ashley. You have zero idea what his discussions with Bennett were. Wayne could've perfectly told him to take the money on offer.
