It is an in-joke between me and Coxy that got a bit out of hand. You see old Coxy hates Danny Nutley and/or doesn't rate him whatsoever so the first night I met Coxy was a Broncos v Sharkies match last season and every time Nutley got the pill or made a tackle I was in his ear about how amazing he is and basically tortured the guy about a player he hated and since then it somehow spawned into a bizarre love triangle between the three of us. For the record I am a big fan of his, love the no nonsense style and would have loved him in a Bronco jersey at some point because you can't teach the sort of attitude and consistency he put into his game each time he ran out.

Fans and the media are a vicious breed. In the event of an Ashton-esque dropped ball, I can picture B Hunt's picture across the back of the Courier Mail with 'NOT GOOD ENOUGH' and thousands of fairweather fans denouncing him as the reason we didn't go all the way.

All of this being said, I'm excited to see how he does, should he get picked. But if we can win a title with Shane Perry at half, we can do it with PJ Marsh in the 7.

That's fine and all that, but really, it's a bit sad that Shane Perry gets to go through the rest of his life with that premiership ring on the basis of being competent and in the right place at the right time. I would hate to see PJ or Gorrell having that ring and being able to live of that for the rest of their days - give it to Hunt or Glenn, but not some ring in who's not really a bronco

I wouldn't really class Shane Perry in the same league as if PJ or Gorrell were to win a premiership ring though. At least Perry was there for a fair portion of the season, not just filling in for 2 games. While I didn't really rate him as a player, to say he deserved that ring any less than the other 16 players is a little harsh.

Bagging a Bronco who contributed to winning a GF for us is a new low even for this forum.

Perry did the job well enough so the rest of the side could do theirs, his role should not be diminished because he was not as gifted as most of the backline.

I don't think he's being bagged so much as us saying he was only there because we had nothing better. All the credit to him, he dealt with the pressure, and took a lot of weight off his captains shoulders.

He deserves his thanks.

Wallace said on the footy show last nite Glenn would play half back.. but it was a funny response because he kind of mumbled it and didn't seem confident

Unless you've got the current australian team, couldn't the same be said about anyone in any position though.

He did say Ben Hunt was definitely playing in the U/20's.

Pretty sure it's mind games though.

TBH the players themselves probably don't even know for certain. Actually Ivan probably wasn't 100% which way he would definitely go until the last training session (and he may still not have made up his mind 100%).

What's your point? Perry was hardly a permanent fixture in the Broncos, he was all we had. He's wasn't crash hot, he wasn't shit.

What's that supposed to mean?

It means, IMO, quite a few ppl like to sink the boot into our own players, which I can understand in the heat of the moment ala Sims last year, but I don't get it when ppl like to go at an ex player after he helped win a GF.

I' ve always thought this was a supporters forum. [icon_shru

Thanks Gymp....sorry about the late reply.....old Coxy and I butted heads over Nutz a fair bit too...sure made for lively reading...seeing him kill it in the only go he got was an absolute pleasure.... icon_thumbs_u

perhaps they should've just put Marsh on a plane tonight to go down there anyway. Cause the Storm to panic and come up with more plans? :P

That's what I was getting at, Perry did the job and while we may not have won without him, he is very exclusive company with premiership winning halfbacks - some brilliant players go their whole career without ever achieving this and it can't be denied Perry was a bit of a ring in - he was clearly a stop-gap solution and to think otherwise is naive or ignorant

Sorry - but as this is a public forum, I though I was entitled to my own opinion, and that I didn't have to suck up to everyone who ever wore the maroon and gold - I didn't rate Perry then, not now and we are a much stronger team without him - he is living breathing evidence of the benefit of being at the right place at the right time (bit like Steven Bradbury)
