NEWS Why Haas Rejected 6m Offer

If he was going to sign couldn't he just agree to terms until the court case is over.

Haas knows his value.
He has been called the best in the game at what he does for several seasons now, even in a wooden spoon team.
He knows if and when he go's to the open market he will get top dollar, and the likes of Politis will sweeten that deal off the books. SBW would be making sure he knows that.

Financially i get why he isnt signing anything, and i dont think it has anything to do with his current legal situation with his ex-manager.

Nothing story... he got an upgrade last year and is now on $800k plus, so he's basically the highest paid prop in the game.

He doesn't need to talk extension anymore now that he's up on top dollar.

and if he does leave... so be it... him being by far and away the best prop in the game for the last 2-3yrs hasn't appeared to help us in the slightest in regards to wins. He literally couldn't do any more on the field and we still barely won a game... he needs a supporting cast as well.

Spine players are the million dollar players... Haas getting $800k plus (and increasing as the years go on) is about as good as you could expect without decimating the cap and having no one around you to put points on the board.

Don't get me wrong having Haas in our team is enormous, but he's not the one single handedly putting points on the board and getting us the wins

A million dollar forward is a luxury and not as important as a top-class spine. If Haas goes to the Roosters they will somehow have Smith, Keary & Tedesco in the spine plus still be able to afford a $1 million forward. Nothing suss.

You think he would be happy paying commission to Orr and to his agent on the new deal do you?

Nope, but i dont think that is the dominant reason for rejecting the 6 million dollar offer. It would play a part for sure, but i also think he would be very aware just how much he could make elsewhere on and off the books.

Would you take a 6 million dollar offer, when you have the likes of SBW and Nasser in your ear telling you that you can make 8 million at the Roosters plus another 2 million playing golf with Uncle Nick?

Can we also clear up (not having a shot at you, but the thread title), the $6M offer has not been rejected as far as I know. It is still on the table, Haas has not made a decision one way or the other, in my view because of the contractual issue with Orr.

I would not take a $6M offer in circumstances where I am in current litigation with my agent and if I accept the offer I potentially place myself in a scenario where I have to pay a fucker I can't stand commission and then pay my current agent his commission on top. So no, I would not be taking a $6M offer.

If we become competitive again, such that we are a real chance of winning a premiership, I think it is likely he will stay here. If we are still shit in a year or two year's time and the Roosters are still near the top, it is likely he will choose to go because I think he wants to win.

I truly hope you are right mate.

Actually as far as I know, no formal offer has even been made yet.

I was just going off the ever unreliable reports in the media that we had tabled an offer. It was reported in the Australian three days ago that we had tabled that offer.

Plus Walker and Suaalii on big money too and that isn't even factoring in Crichton, Radley, Manu and Collins who are also apparently on big money.
