That's a close one but I'll go with the boy from Gerrigong Tariq. He is far more consistent and has a lot more heart and dedication and doesn't need somebody to keep him motivated. Brett Kenny v Peter Sterling

Isn't this where players who have played the SAME POSITION are pitted against each other...?

Pretty sure Kenny never played half. OTOH ....Sterlo may have played 5/8 (don't ever remember when though)

In the name of moving things along, I'll go Sterlo.

As a halfback growing up ...he was my hero. Him and Ollie. (Greg Oliphant)

Kenny was a brilliant individualist ....but Sterlo was the ultimate RL player. He had vision and control. Only Wally could be compared (greater) to Sterlo in their day in controlling the tempo of a game.

Greg Inglis Vs Billy Slater ....??

(sorry if that's been done ....I didn't check)

Haha, FFS penny! I'll say Saleh, seeing as Barba never actually played in the NRL...

Great comparison.

In the end, I think Benji gets the nod because he achieved the success that eluded Jones - Premiership and World Cup. Both had moments of absolute brilliance, both were ornaments of our game but only one could say they were the best in the world at one time - Benji.

Richard Swain vs. Kevin Kingston

I'll go with Kingston, though it could really go either way. I was just pretty disappointed with Swain in his one year at the Broncs.

Hindmarsh by a long shot, in my book. One of my favourite non-Bronco players. Gave his all for the Eels (plus NSW and Australia) in every match he played. When he was at the top of his game, he had a habit of just breaking through tackles with ease... didn't seem to use a fend or anything, just somehow found his way through the line. Couple that with his outstanding defensive efforts, and you've got yourself a brilliant player.

Alan Tongue.

Brad Fittler or Laurie Daley?

Ooooh, gotta go Fittler. Just. Fittler carried his team, they were a shambles without him. Daley had superstars around him.

Henry Fa'afili! Just having a squiz at his stats, and it looks like he's been carving up in England. Didn't do too bad for the Warriors either, and his name is rad.

Nice one. For me it's Shifcofske. A very underrated player, who if it wasn't for Lockyer would have played consistent origin.

Sherwin for mine. In 2002 and 2004 especially, he was just in ridiculous form. Absolutely pivotal to Canterbury's premiership win in 2004. In fact, if he was around in the last five years or so, he might've played State of Origin footy (seeing as NSW chop and change their halves so much). When Matt Head came onto the scene, I remember how many people were lavishing praise on him - he had a bit of pizazz. Unfortunately for him though, injuries completely ruined his career.

Scott Hill or Trent Barrett?

BTW, this thread is orsm. I like reading everyone's reasoning behind why player x is better than player y... so make sure you give a reason!

Easily Scott Hill. He was a much tougher player than Barrett and more versatile. I personally don't see what all the fuss is about Barrett, in my mind he was a pretty ordinary player.

I'd say William Zillman. People bag him, but before his injuries, while at Canberra he was superb and really dangerous.
