Sack Griffin/New Coach Discussion

Could be worse......could be Griffin remaining and Boyd coming to play to club, with Griffin playing him at halfback and hoffman at 5/8th, god I hope his not reading this right now.

I Re-iterate that I dont want him back as head coach, it would be a mistake.

I have to disagree. I reckon he can take next years playing group to a Premiership within 3 years.

Bennett's style is outdated, but he's still better than Griffin as coach, because Griffin uses the exact same style while being borderline insane/retarded.

But that is the brilliance of Bennett, because he knows that now and he can use the off season to examine what other coaches are doing at the clubs that are performing well and develop his own version that has a bit of that Bennett factor.

One of the things that makes a great coach is adaptability and Bennett has that in spades.

Bennett has the exact same style as Griffin. In fact I think he played Stagg at 5/8 for at least one game, and that probably worse than playing Hoffman there. And I do worry that Walters will also have a similar style.

Honestly I wouldn't be against the Walker brothers getting a gig. They have done well in the ISC, and seem to have a fresh style.

One game vs 10 and counting. Plus no, it isn't worse.

I don't want a Bennett clone either, but Bennett is the best of the Bennett clones, and Griffin is the worst.

GriffinBall is BennetBall. Take out the superstars this side has had for the last umpteen years and what do you have? A team which plays pedestrian football.

I don't want Bennett back within cooee of the Broncos

As a flat out head coach, then I agree. However I don't believe that is what would happen. I personally think it would work like this.

a) Benny comes back as head coach, appointing Kevin Walters as his assistant
b) Over a set period, Bennett would phase himself out and bring Walters in
c) Bennett becomes the director of coaching with Walters being the head coach

What does the director of coaching do?

The point is, we have to look for a new coach who understands that the game is evolving, and if it came down to it, having Bennett while we do that is better than having Griffin.

I cannot believe I am hearing this about the coach that won us 6 Premierships.

This is all academic. As we will be in the top 4, Griffin will be coach next year (hic)

Surely you jest... Bennett has adaptability?

Bennett was great coach and built the club into what it is today... But the simpke fact is the club needs to move on from Bennett. We also need to prove we can win without him at the helm.

There are no arguments from me that we need a new coach... "NEW" being the important word. So lets get the feelers out and find one.

I don't see why going back to something that worked for us is such a bad idea. If bennett this time could help build for his departure as coach, whilst still being on the sidelines to mentor once is coaching tenure finishes up i think that would be nothing but beneficial.
