OFFICIAL Bellamy extends contract with Melbourne Storm

Has norman?

There was a quick grab I saw on the news earlier that Bennett has ruled out signing Norman, but other than ‘Bennett said’ there is no source, video, written quote etc I can find to verify this...

Mate I cannot read your comment in the Tipping forum. In fact I cannot read anyone's comments on this page. I'm trying to find out why the site does not credit me with wins for the last to teams on the tipping comp? Any ideas?

Dunno mate, I understand the game results have been fixed now, but not sure about the comments issue. I believe the Admins are onto it.

And now back to why everyone has been bagging Bennett all season, yet don’t want Bellamy either...

This is a silly argument IMO. Saying Bellamy can't win without his spine and Mal went for the ride is taking away what they did do.
Not everyone could coach the Storm with lessor players around the big 3. Bellamy constantly bought barely NRL level players and extracted the most from them that was an achievement on it's own.
Not many coaches could manage a roster around 3 players and keep that win record.

Mal deserves a lot of credit for 9 wins out of 10. That's bloody hard to do. I don't understand the need to tear down their achievements based on what ifs.

The thing for me is, who’s to say the big 3 would’ve even become the stars that they are without being in the environment they found themselves in to begin with.

Imagine if we signed Bellamy and snuck Smith in as well to play halfback for a couple of years.

You wouldn't get rid of the stench from the place years after they left. I try not to imagine such atrocities.

If the rumors are true, I wonder of he still has the power to decide who to hire and who to fire.

Well, clearly you do. TBH, I like having supporters of other teams here it adds to the place. I couldn't give two shits who you support actually, it was a joke, move on and relax.

Name's Harry mate and I'm not sure what you're disputing here tbh. I'm addressing why head office is talking to Bellamy....

.....and that's the big question. I really don't know if he is......that's a big jump in price and I don't think the results would be worth it.

Look , it's very simple. Melbourne, right out of the horses...... ass, stated they offered Bellamy 3 years from next year. Bennett still has 1 year on his current contract and wants at least another 2. 1 + 2 = 3. If the head office is happy with Bennett, there is no reason they would (seemingly) be desperate to sign Bellamy. And if they are offering him 1.7 or more a year, they are desperate. Personally I can't understand it. I'm not happy with Bennett and believe Bellamy is better coach but from a cost-benefit perspective, I'd rather they stick with Bennett for now. Give him his last year.

The difference in the salary of the 2 (according to reports) would be more than a lot of coaches are on period. Is Bellamy a better coach? I think so. Is he that much better? I don't think so.

I wonder how much a premiership is worth as opposed to being thereabouts? The head office must be very confident Bellamy can bring in a premiership or 2 but lack confidence in Bennett.

Hey mate, thanks for the mention again. It's a shame your post was edited before I got a chance to respond although I guess I don't need to now as they seem to have answered it. Name's Harry btw. Like I said, it actually was a joke....a gentle prod. The same sort we like to give a guy named Bucking Beads about how he told us all he was off to support the Titans. Or how Unbreakable told us all that he'd deactivate if Jarrod Wallace ever played Origin. It's called forum banter. Relax and move on.

As far as your comment above, it could be that they're not happy with him right now or it could simply be a bit of foresight on their part. It's all well and good for Benny to want an extension and perhaps they'd like to keep him.....but the reality is, if we don't grab CB now we could miss him altogether......or have to get into a bidding war with someone else when he's available again. Although really, how much higher could the price tag go? Like you, I'm inclined to give Bennett his final year.

What rumours? Half-truths and reading between the lines of thinly veiled slander by Rothfield and Kent? It's people like you that keep those dipshits in their jobs, believing what they say because you simply want to believe it, and repeat it as truth.

Except it's not 1+2. You're just simplifying it to that because it suits what you want to believe. It's 1+(who knows how many years Bennett may want to re-sign for). The reason they are wanting Bellamy now is because Wayne is getting old, and it's impossible to tell if the planets will ever actually align perfectly let alone it happening in 2-3 years time, so now is the closest it'll ever be to a somewhat simple swap between Bennett and Bellamy.

100% - if Wayne was 65 instead of 68 this wouldn't be happening.

I don't follow who says what so closely but I know it's been stated on TV, in newspapers, on the radio, on this forum. How many places does it have to be repeated before it officially becomes a rumor?

The planets aren't aligned. Not at all. This is the problem. They are going to have to pay Bennett off or pay Bellamy to do nothing for a year. The fact that the club is still looking to sign Bellamy despite that very major obstacle should be a very clear indication the head office isn't happy with Bennett, but no. A lot of posters here will continue to delude themselves and take umbrage against anyone pointing out what is perfectly obvious.

It's ok. I have a pretty thick skin. Lots of people call me all kinds of nasty things. Sometimes add "just joking" at the end and sometimes not. As soon as I bite back my post is promptly edited but whatever. It is what it is. Something Wayne Bennett seems to have accepted and probably something you should accept as well.
