I swear these blokes are going to give me a cardiac arrest! I still cannot believe what an absolute trainwreck that final 10 minutes was, on both sides of the ball...

Few key points I observed from last night's game (and the season on a whole to some extent):
  • Biggest disappointment of the night was definitely McC. It has been years since I have seen a hooker in the NRL consistently take the wrong option and offer no threat to the opposition. His passing is also horrific. I'm especially referring to the first half, where we were pounding their line - passes to our players' feet, lollipop balls to any first receiver standing more than 6m from the play the ball. Not to mention his constant desire to pass from an upright position because he doesn't have the ability for quick service - putting our attackers under pressure as they are faced with less time to work with.
  • Boyd's abilities have seriously deteriorated over the past 18 months. It is a sad sight to see. One thing I won't fault tonight is his effort and commitment amongst criticism all week. He charged forward off the first kick chase of the night and made the tackle on Mbye which was pleasing to see. But he needs to move from FB immediately.
  • Has is an absolute superstar. A true beacon in our go forward and for a player so young, his energy and commitment, especially on defence was phenomenal. Also showed a great temperament and maturity (for eg: slowed up his play the ball when we were on the back foot to ensure he didn't make an error)
  • Halves are not good enough as a combination at this level (which we all knew).
  • Our forwards played quite well with the exception of some ill-discipline and uncharacteristic errors from Lodge.
  • Our error count is still ridiculous
  • Are we going to learn to hold onto the ball over the line? 4 bombed tries in 3 games in a row. Was the difference against St George and last night. Really should've been 14 or 20 nil on the 30th minute.
  • Carrigan has the presence on field like he is a natural leader. His style reminds me of a Jake Trbojevic and would suit the no.13 jersey IMO long term. Why did he get so little minutes when he is a point of difference to all the other forwards we had on our rotation?
  • I'd be dropping Offa to the bench when TPJ is back. He isn't the same as he was last year and needs a rocket from Seibold
Overall I am disheartened and need to see some fight and desire from these players who are pulling on our proud jersey and representing our club. This alongside with poor discipline & execution are our main issues at present.

No he’s not. I also agree. I'm sure Bird and Fifita would as well. Dropping the ball over the try line has caused most of these negative spits in the wash up. A win would have done wonders for the confidence of both team and supporters with out doubt.
The thing is, drop balls happen to every team. They're annoying but excusable. What isn't excusable is having the chance to win the game via field goals and having them ruined by either poor service or a complete lack of game management. That is unforgivable and a lot more than just polish.

Watching the replay, it's pretty obvious Boyd "slips over" on purpose.

Around 8:20

He axed Farah for Cook who was a journeyman at the time. I would kill to have Farah in our side right now at a more advanced age. I don't understand what's holding Seibold back from making calls in key positions.

He is 5 games in , it would stink of panic if he makes too many changes. He may include an option at 9 this week and possibly a positional switch but I wouldn't expect major changes.
If he pulls the trigger on changes he has to be totally sure they can work, if they don't where does he go.
We can bitch all we want but it's a little different in the drivers seat.

Well then we should have fucking recruited for these positions one or two years ago shouldn't we! Some of you blokes give me the shits when you say, "oh well there wasn't anyone available blah blah blah". Stop talking such shit. There were a number of halfbacks and hookers available at various times these past couple of years. Bennett, the recruiters, the board, whoever the **** it was stuffed up by thinking we were fine in these critical positions. We had the chance and we blew money on blokes like Bird. It has come back to bite us hard on the arse now!

Who were they?

Absolutely fucking gutted.

But we were a mile better than we were last week. Two bombed tries and one taken away but that obstruction. That ending though. I haven't been reading the comments here yet but I assume Boyd is going to cop it for not getting there again. But if you watch closely, he's the one who (successfully) pressures the field goal attempt, then has the awareness to get back behind the line. Chee Kam should never have been able to get through those pathetic arm grabs, and when he did Boyd would have covered him had he not slipped. Whoever takes down MCK at the end there did so much better than they had any right to, even though it was futile, it was a great effort.
If you can look past all the errors we are making you will see a good side brewing. But going to take some time. I’m not gutted but excited for the future. Coach and all.

I'm going to have to consider legal action against the NRL and Broncos.

The NRL for putting the Broncos on Thursday nights. Friday is my bad lunch, and I find myself ordering food depending on how the Broncos perform. When we have a great game like against the Cowboys, I feel good about myself and reward myself with a massive feast of fried food. When we have a poor game, like the others, I feel bad about myself and attempt to cheer myself up with a massive feast of fried food. The NRL and the Broncos are making me fat(ter), time to speak to a lawyer and get some justice.

Are you eating a whole tray of lasagne again?

This........people carrying on about Milford? Its this dumb **** we have at dummy half that ***** the team.

Give Milford any other no.9 in the comp and he'll come alive.

McCullough simply has to go.

Kodi cant tackle out wide now, how is he going to go making 40 tackles a game in the ruck? It will be slaughter

If they are still putting rubbers on the end of pencils then people are still making mistakes. Can be the difference between winning and losing like last night. They are kids learning their trade.

Come on folks, this loss is a good thing. It will well and truly know what kind of a coach Seibold is or isn't. If he can't see that something needs to be changed, than good luck. I think three years has got to be enough time to realize that our 1,6, 7, 9 combo is without question the worst in the NRL. So the question is what are you going to do about it?

If I am running the show the first thing is to **** off Darius (Every forward in the comp can step me) Boyd. Second is do likewise with Andrew who one never moves forward and two provides dreadful service. I would replace him with Nikorima and essentially tell him to do everything that Cook does and play eith SOS or Dearden. That would be for starters.

our 1,6,7,9 have all played test or origin footy.

The young pack did their job last night but the spine (which has 782 games of NRL experience) butchered it.

Still can't get my head around how poor that non-field-goal set was.

Said before the season that we need two hookers because McCullough doesn't offer enough. Thoughts haven't changed.

Would move Nikorima to the bench and bring in a new halfback. Actually think Nikorima is decent ball-player and could be a really good five-eighth, but it's not working in this team at the moment.

Those ripping into Seibold, the team has the same issues they had last year. Even Bennett moved Boyd out of fullback. McGuire's loss was bigger than probably appreciated too.

If Bird holds that pass though ... who knows, maybe the team runs away with it. But can't get by on what-ifs. Results-wise, they're getting what they deserve at the moment.

It boggles the mind how a spine with roughly eight hundred games between them have the game management skills of a wet sock and the football IQ of a mentally deficient chihuahua. This is far from a new problem of course, but in the last couple of years it's been papered over with moments of individual brilliance and just enough wins to make it look like this team is a contender, before the true colors show when the pressure is on.

We'd have more wins than loses if we didn't drop so many balls and bomb so many tries, sure, but it wouldn't mean the same fundamental problems weren't there. For years this team has been rudderless inside the opposition twenty, and incapable of building any kind of sustained pressure. It's painful to watch. At this stage it's pretty clear a complete overhaul is necessary, but we just might not have the building blocks available right now.

Some of the hot takes in here about Siebold are laughable, to be honest. You can't judge him on five games. With this squad, you probably can't even judge him on a full season. And anyone who thinks Bennett was going to take this squad past the first couple of weeks of the finals this year is kidding themselves. It'd have just been more of the same. I still do think Siebold needs to start making some changes now, if only positional, to put the guys he has in the best positions to succeed, and to potentially start identifying those pieces he has that can build on and that can serve to improve the team in the longer run. That might be Niko at hooker. That might be Bird at fullback. That might be Boyd in the centres. But I'll be disappointed if he doesn't start making some changes soon. Take some small risks at least, at this stage it can't really hurt.

At least next week isn't another bloody Thursday night. Thank god for small mercies.
Bloody well said ,Culhwch , this teams offensive plays remind me of how bad Hook had them running. I can't believe this one up running is the only thing they practice at training. I mean how predictable is it . No one backs up and even joey Johns eluded to it last night about the cohesion of the forwards . When bird ran sideways it was unpredictable for the defence and luckily Katoni Staggs could read the play and RUN on to it draw and pass and osako kicking ability saw gillett ,johny on the spot . Yes there was some bad luck last night , but they do not seem to be able to mount pressure and sustain it. The forwards need to learn to run and unload to players BACKING UP ffs . gillett and fifita are really good ruck men ,but not being used correctly I believe, and that's the Coaches job . Despite what this forums saying about the various players ,this is a good roster of talent, but everyone is so fucking lasy it seems . that's why I was excited when Bellamy was considered as coach. He would have drilled them into submission. Positional changes probably need to be made asap ,and something needs to be done about the Milf , he needsa rocket alright. . Their confidence will be down no doubt ,but Siebold cannot make excuses for their performances. On what we saw last night i'm not sure we can win any games at all this year,i think Siebold has them chasing the wooden spoon . The season is probably gone and that's not acceptable .

Lol, know exactly how you feel.

After last night's monstrosity, I almost drove to my local maccas and ordered the entire menu.
