NEWS Right price to deliver Storm’s Brodie Croft to Broncos

DCE made his debut at like 21 after being behind Foran and Hodkinson. In his rookie season he was the rookie of the year. Wouldn't exactly say he was a late bloomer...

As for Shiba, i have plenty of doubt over him having ability. Has done less than nothing in his NRL games. Doesn't know how to score and that's basically youre job as an outside back.

I'm mistaken with Daly. I thought he was older. And in regards to Shiba, he must have known how to find the line at some stage otherwise he would not have even made it this far.

Also I saw a few good things from Shiba this year. He can break a tackle and has good footwork. I thought he showed that on a few occasions. He obviously dropped a few too many balls this year but his defence was very good. He definitely was not as hopeless as some people are making him out to be.

I question plenty mate, but we're going to have options in the halves if Croft signs, we'll need to figure out what we've got between him, Milford, Dearden & Paix - But all 4 of those guys would be comfortably ahead of any hypothetical ISC signing. I doubt signing Fogarty as a 5th string 26 year old Halfback is really the best way to use a top 30 spot.. Don't you?

I think he’d be a decent addition on a minimum wage salary.

I’m not going to change my mind on that.

We’ve had Dargan sitting around in the top squad like he’s invisible. So I’m not concerned about running out of spots in the squad.

Add Segeyaro to this. There are some more that are missing that won’t be re-signed. We have spots to fill.

I don’t really care. Just don’t be surprised if the club signs Fogarty.

Mal may be smart enough to keep him at the GC though.

There are articles saying that Broncos would be open to signing Ash Taylor for 150k. I’d actually prefer Fogarty.
You dont care because you just cant back anything up you are saying, especially the nonsense about Papenhauzen.

I dont mind Jamal, but we wont sign him. I can guarantee you that, so there will be no surprise. He have promising halfbacks in Boyd and Paix, we dont need an almost 26 year old who has already failed to crack the NRL at 2 pretty poor sides he was at. We cant take the risk after the season we have had of gambling on a bloke like Fogarty, who lets face it, is already miles behind both Croft and Taylor at NRL level. Can we afford another half back who cant get his team over the line from a winning position like Foggy on sunday? I dont think we can. Seibs is on thin ice as it is, he wont back his job on a player like that.

Oh, and you are wrong about Jordan Papana. Titans wanted to keep him, he quit footy to go on a Mormon Mission.

Yeah he did seem to go off the boil a little bit in the second half. He must have been pretty consistent throughout the year to receive the accolades he has but.

Everybody is crucifying him for the brain fart he had in the last 30 seconds. It was a bad play no doubt but Burleigh really should have been able to close the game down. It took a brilliant kick and a fortuitous bounce to win Newtown that game, rather than Fogarty losing it for them. Burleigh wouldn't have even been in that position if Fogarty hadn't have played as well as he did throughout most of the game.

He just made a mistake, like every other person does. He looks first grade quality to me.

Burleigh choked or Newton pulled off two brilliant kicks in the second half, mixed in with a little bit of luck?

Like i said, i dont mind him as a player, and i think if he was playing 5/8 at a club like Manly next to DCE i think he could make a go of it still in the NRL. I dont think he is a good fit for us because we need a half back who can run things and close games out. At his age, he should have been able to do that under pressure on Sunday and he didnt ( and he wasnt the only one either ). If we were in the market for a 5/8, i'd seriously consider giving him a go.

The other thing to consider is there are quite a few halves probably about the same ability and skill set he has playing ISC. I'd put Cullen, Scarlett, Murphy, on a par with him, and even guys like Templeman and Gamble. If Jayden Nikorima gets over his injury and gets his head screwed on, there is another quality half right there who is probably better than all of them.

He may not be a good fit for us but I agree he may be for another team. He looks pretty athletic and compact. 5/8 may be a good fit for him.

Not sure why I can't seem to quote properly 🤣

Why is Fogarty even being discussed? Are people truly that desperate for a half? No.. Just no.

There is a reason why he is 26 and still can't crack the NRL.

Cody Walker was 26 when he made his debut. I can't think of any other success stories though.

Cody Walker wasn't being picked because he was a party boy. He always had the skills, he just didn't want to do the hard work.

Good player. I like him. Would be well worth signing. IMO

With respect, the problem with this argument is that in the absence of signing Croft, we are effectively one injury away from having Boyd or Turpin in the halves and two away from having both.

Dearden clearly in the view of the club is not ready for a full season at NRL level, and Paix is further away than that and is being groomed as a hooker it would seem. SOS is gone for a while. What is the problem of putting Fogarty on a base contract as a bit of depth and insurance. We had Tagatese and Fensom in our top 30 this year and did not use the former and barely used the latter.

Once again, with respect, you and others are too quick on occasions to write players off.

Absent the Croft signing is somewhat irrelevant, we're going to sign either him or Sezer, that's pretty much guaranteed at this point. Our depth will be fine with Croft/Sezer, Milford & Dearden. Not even factoring in the other less impressive options we could use. You'll struggle to find a club that has 5 or more halves on the books in their top 30.

So, you have named Croft/Sezer, Milford and Dearden as our half options, one injury and we then have no depth other than Paix. Two injuries to our halves and we are in big trouble again.

Whether it be Fogarty or someone else, I believe we need more depth than those three, unless we are expecting an earlier return from SOS.

Now my question to you is, how often do your 3 frontline halves get injured at the same time? Has it ever happened in the history of the NRL? I think it would be folly to plan for something so trivial and unlikely to happen, how about we use those top 30 spots on some of our up and coming outside backs / forwards?

Is there anyone around him who can help or make him pull his socks up?

Even if 2 of them are injured and you do not have a genuine half to come into fill the void, you are left with the equivalent of Boyd, Turpin, Toni Carroll etc. Clearly, we will just have to agree to disagree on this one. This year we had SOS, Dearden and Paix all out injured at the same time.

A further example from this year are the Cowboys who lost Te Maire Martin, Hampton and Clifford to injuries which led to them playing Asiata in the halves.
