Unless of course the Cows are losing a couple or are under cap pressure which is quite possible considering their roster. As I've said previously Drinkwater is the man we should be asking about to play fullback even though he is under contract next year. He is the odd man out and the Cows may need to make that cap space.
More like they might be looking to turn over some of their roster with a new Coach coming on board. Might present a few opportunities for the Broncos if the right guys were potentially available.

I think this post is the same as everyone else who just keeps missing the point on Tolman.

Yes, JWH is better. Yes, Bromwich is better. Yes, Nathan Brown is better.

NONE of them are coming to Brisbane for 200-300k though. Not even remotely close. It's not comparing apples for apples.

No one is saying Tolman would solve every one of our problems or be our Forward leader because he obviously wouldn't and he isn't that type of player.

What he is though is a no frills, low maintenance professional who does his job incredibly reliably and is one of the more effective tacklers in the competition. He also provides a level of off-field professionalism that is sorely missing from out current roster. The other key stipulation is that he would need to come cheaply, because like with all successful sides, you need a mix of gun talent on big money combined with guys who are prepared to play for around or even slightly less than they are worth. If you want the likes of Munster in 2022, you need to have a few guys like Tolman or Opacic on your books to help balance things out under the cap.

I, and I'm sure @Wolfie and the other Tolman advocates would all prefer a gun Prop in the mould of JWH, but for the sort of money we're talking about and the job he would need to do, Aiden Tolman fits the bill about as perfectly as anyone else you could nominate for 2021.
We aren’t gonna get him... the fact that kevvie just selected Ofehangue for origin is a clear indication that he still has faith and will persist with him... also their is genuinely no need for 5 props especially considering the rise of Riki assuming Glenn and tpj are in the second row would have to be on the bench

I'm not certain, but I'd suggest if you went back more than 20 years you couldn't find a single season where we only used 5 Props for the whole year.

We require at least 4 of them for every single game and that's before any of them miss time with injury, suspension, loss of form etc.

Just a reminder, we currently have 4 Dummy Halves for some reason and now you're suggesting we can get through a year with just 5 Props...

I’m not saying 5 props for the whole season we don’t need 5 props playing every game we have about 10 props

To be fair, only two of them were any good this year.

That’s generous... but realistically lodge will improve we get pangai back who won’t be a prop but he will get some decent metres... and hopefully that influences Ofehangue and flegler to perform off the bench... I don’t think we need to spend more money on our forward pack until players start to perform or leave it’s as simple as that

I'm not missing the point at all Kooly. Nobody suggested we could get JWH or the others you mention, just the TYPE of player we need. We have enough Tolman type players so unless we release Joe O or someone else then he is surplus to needs.
He isn't going anywhere for 300k either so we would definitely have to move someone on.
I would say Walters would be backing himself to get the most from a few of these guys already on the books anyway.
We have a very good squad that completely misfired this season. Best we forget about 2020 get fit and see what comes of it next year.

Who exactly do we currently have playing 60+ minutes and averaging 140+ metres and 40+ tackles a game at almost 94% efficiency besides Haas and Carrigan?

Where are our Tolman types? I can't believe all these experienced workhorses we apparently have everywhere!

Ask a question then exclude the players I can name to answer the question. Ok then..

So 2 players of that type who are incredibly inexperienced is enough?

I get where Dex is coming from. I remember before the 2019 season and assessed all the forward packs on LU, I pointed out the only players the Broncos had that you'd be scared to run at were Matt Gillett and Jaydn Su'A. Both are gone now and nobody has stepped up to take their place.

That's what the Broncos need, a Sia Soliola type who just plays hard tough football and puts the opposition on their backs.

Riki and staggs can be this for us.

Maybe in the long term, but we're talking about next season. Riki will do well to play half the season and Staggs should remain in the backs.

100% but that need shouldn't exclude signing Tolman because we need both.
