Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Maybe an unpopular opinion (probably been discussed here already) and I'm not sure what the asking price would be but I'd be happy to offer Tolman a 1 year deal, provided we're not paying overs.

I think he's one middle on the market that could offer our pack the grunt work we need without the thrills. Would be a good pro for guys like Flegler to learn from on the training paddock too.

At worst he's got a ton of experience, isn't a flog and would be handy depth. With Lodge gone and TPJ heading for the door, we need to at least get another serviceable middle forward that doesn't break the bank (like Finucane might).
Would absolutely go Tolman for 1 year at 300k ideally.

Gives us an experienced prop to replace Lodge and another old head who's dependable and needs no management.

I reckon you could get him for 250k and I'd jump at it.

I'd like us to target: Tolman, Lui, Napa (yes I said it but ONLY if he is super cheap in the last chance saloon), Ah Mau, Mago, Nicholls. I hope we get at least two from that lot.

Respectfully disagree with Napa.

He strikes me as a one man circus that wouldn't necessarily be a good influence for our culture and would certainly generate news headlines as a signing.

I'm sure he's matured as a person in recent years and probably still has some decent footy in him, I just don't think we need the brain explosions that come with him. We've been killed by lapses in concentration and getting binned/suspended for petty acts is not the aggression we need.

It would be a risk that could pay off but in my eyes it's not one worth taking. Rest of that list are good options.

Yep I get your points, totally. However, he won't be in demand and will be cheap, it might be the wake up call he needs and he is an ex-origin player. It is a risk worth taking depending of course on it being cheap.

So we won’t be getting a fullback or a dummy half.. any props available?

I don't know about that ... because our plan is coming together quite nicely right now.

so far we have two important pieces locked in. a game managing half and an experienced edge backrower.

could use a hooker and some depth, a fullback would be a luxury as well
Agree for the most part but I think getting a fullback is more necessity than a luxury if we want to compete for the premiership.

Compared to the other teams we simply don’t currently have a fullback.

Alrighty, new list time:

1. Niu/Cobbo
2. Mead/Cobbo
3. Lee
4. Farnworth
5. Oates
6. Staggs
7. Reynolds (c)
8. Haas
9. B.Smith (I think need to go all in on him now and we can offer anyone to the Storm they want really except Haas)
10. Carrigan
11. Su'A/Riki/Piakura
12. Capewell
13. Hetherington

14. Paix
15. Napa
16. Bullemor/Flegler/Kennedy
17. Riki/Piakura/Su'A

I like it but the side next year will most likely be very littlt like it.

Travis Meyn reckons the Broncos are using their Lodgebux to go after Aaron Woods/Ryan James.

I'd be ok with James, really really great bloke and likely cheap but he is also a Raiders fan and most likely wants to stay. As for Woods, why give up Lodge to effectively pay for Lodge to play elsewhere AND Woods, no value in that whatsoever.

I thought we needed the Lodgebux to sign Capewell? I'm so confused because the media are so reliable and never lie. I'm guessing that since they said this the Warriors felt bad and decided to cover all of his salary so we have more money from Lodge now. Man what a great bunch they are.

So you're saying we're not going after either of those players because a journalist has reported it, or that money doesn't get pooled and divided? Either way, I'm all ears. Make your prediction based on kneejerk cynicism and let's match it with the outcome.
I'm just pointing out that within the space of 24 hours the same media machine that you will not let anyone criticize has come out with 5 different outcomes 2 of which completely contradict each other. I'm not going to predict anything because I don't have enough knowledge of what is happening, I also won't praise the media for their bullshit.

I'm not sure why you defend them so strongly but I will leave it there.
