OFFICIAL Gamble re-signs

Warriors where losing RTS their main target Hughes didn't want to come so they threw the bank at an unproven Walsh, there isn't much we could of done in hindsight, Warriors where in a position to take a big gamble.

It was pretty obvious in the trial game Walsh played for Broncos that he was ready for NRL and was a future star of the game. It was obvious to me anyway.. And obvious enough to those at Warriors such as Phil Gould.

I don't care what you think of my examples. Broncos have not been a chance of making the finals therefore we should have been planning for the future years ago and from round 1 of this year. Isaako was never our long term fullback. Croft was never our long term 7. Milf was not our long term 6.

you're a fool... continually chucking young KIDS into the squad before they are ready is what got us into this position in the first bloody place. what makes you think continually doing what doesn't work, will improve things. the Storm, The Rooster, even the Panthers, don't throw kids into their teams (especially in the spine) before even playing reserve grade.

you imply you want us to emulate the Storm/Rooster ... and do that by NOT emulating the Storm/Roosters

hell if the Warriors weren't losing RTS at season's end and missed out on Hughes, they wouldn't have taken a risk on him either.

If you choose to believe that version 👍

ignore the facts if it makes you happy

You're just making things up now. Who said I'd have a whole team of kids? The "experienced players" Broncos have recruited the past few years are laughable too, don't get me wrong! Broncos have been messing up on both sides of the spectrum.

He didn't play football at all last year and plenty of players have good one off games.

The trial game was his First game against men too, he never had even played ISC at that point.

It was clearly a gamble.

We had nothing to lose this year. Pretending like we were gearing up to challenge for the title was a complete joke..

Who cares about Walsh and Walker.

I'd take Gamble over either for the next couple of years at least. They don't even shave yet and are barely a body in defense. WAY better value, and adds more to the team for the interim.

Going from Milf at 6 to Gamble at 6 is very nice, I agree. I love Gamble's attitude.

which is exactly why we should develop players properly instead of rushing them ...
We need to pick the right players to develop. Walsh was worth playing early, developing and paying up for.

Walsh didn't want to be developed ... he wanted to play immediately. Hell, Walsh didn't even have the confidence to beat out ISAAKO for the position. which is why big money and a promise to play immediately was able to tempt him away ...

there is a reason he went to a Nathan Brown coached team rather than a Bellamy, Bennett or Robinson coached team

Who actually thought we where gearing up for a title?

Alot of our mess has been created by picking young talented guys with no good experienced leadership to guide them, even if we signed Walsh I doubt he would be the same one we see at the Warriors, he has one of the best fullbacks in the game to guide him there in RTS.

Half our team has been hyped up the same as Walsh was before he made his debut, look at all the youth Rep teams for the last 5 years there is plenty of Broncos players there.

That's fine. Make up your own version of other people's reasons for making decisions to make yourself happy

so we can actually go back to the subject of this thread ... some more comments from Gamble (don't think they've been posted yet)

on the future:

"I want to play alongside Reyno but it'll probably be a battle between Kotoni and I throughout pre-season next year and throughout the trials," Gamble said.

"If he beats me to it then so be it. I just want what's best for this club and what's best for this team, I'll just have to fight my way into another jersey.

"I prefer five-eighth but either way I'm just happy to be in the team, to be honest.

"I've only played 10 or so games so I'll play wherever Kevvy [coach Kevin Walters] wants me.

"But that's for next year, we've got the rest of this year, I'm just looking forward to that and hopefully getting a strong finish."

on his combative approach:

"I know I overstep sometimes and get in people's faces and it's probably not a good look," Gamble said.

"I don't plan on going out and being a grub, it just comes out in me.

"I've copped a bit, I definitely get ripped into a lot because I think people realise that's the way I play.

"But if you're going to give it out you've got to be able to take it so I'm happy, it doesn't bother me too much.

"I'm just passionate, I love this team, love the group and I'll do what I can to win, I'm not going to change."

on the NRL passing him by:

"You get to a point where you think maybe it's not for me, making NRL," he said.

"But I was happy to play Redcliffe, happy to play Cup - that was an achievement in itself for me so I was stoked to just be playing that, and then the opportunity came to go to the Tigers.

"That was a real shock because I was 20, 21 and the time and most of the blokes my age - Jayden Nikorima and that - they had already been playing 20s and made it into the NRL.

"It was a shock but I'm here now and I'm loving every minute of it."
