Broncos have zero chance. The silver lining to an inevitable smashing by the Panthers is a forced change needed in the spine from round 20.
Kelly to replace Croft, Walters replaces Turpin, Coates replaces Isaako. Switch Farnworth and Niu's position.

people need to stop naming Walters (unless you want Steve or Kevvie to come out of retirement) ... because Billy plays for the Tigers

"You miss 0% of the tackles you don't take"
For three years straight Croft has 90% tackle efficiency. That's better than any other half we have had in the same period. Didn't say he was the worlds greatest player. It doesn't suit the agenda around here and your silly statement applies to every other half in this group. Croft is one of the best defenders going round. Very few halves in the comp are as good. In attack ,not so good. He has limited ability but defensively? One of the best.

Where's the stat that shows the poor reads where he ends up taking thin air?

Damnit I keep thinking Billy Walters had been signed for this year. I'd throw Paix in for Turpin.

Surely someone else can do kickoffs? Surely?
Yeah not sure what extras are actually achieved by having your winger come in to take the kick off. Unless you’re Kyle feldt kicking to Ben hunt.

You’re conflating defending with tackling
Exactly!! it doesn't count as a missed tackle if you can't make a defensive read.
Gamble and hunt have a higher count of missed tackles because they were trying to tackle the bloke not coming in on noone

Whatever NRL stats are doing they are coming up with a tackle efficiency rating and applying it to all players. It's not my fault if Croft is rated more highly in that area than other players.

Kept in the same place as all the other players stats for the same thing. Posters ALWAYS go to this nonsense when they realise their preconceived belief is wrong. It makes no difference how many times such a ludicrous assertion is made, Croft is a very good defender. His attack etc sucks but his defence is excellent.

Mate tackling well doesn’t mean you’re defending well. It’s part of it, but you’d have to have your eyes painted on to think Croft is a very good defender.

Didn’t watch him that closely admittedly. I’ll take extra note this week.

But it’s your fault if you choose to use that one stat as the basis of a ridiculous claim that Croft is an elite defender.

It would be like saying a half is an amazing kicker solely based on the total distance kicked.

@Huge surely you remember the discussion we had about tackle efficiency being extremely unreliable, it was in relation to Haas, maybe 12-18 months ago.

Tackle efficiency doesn't mean a great deal, it's literally just tackles made divided by tackles attempted. In the example of Brodie Croft, he's attempted 194 tackles and made 174 of them (89.6%) It doesn't factor in ineffective tackles (tackles in which the attacker offloads), nor does it factor in situations where the player doesn't even get a hand on the opposition, like Croft on multiple occasions last weekend racing out of the line and being the sole reason for us conceding tries.

What a weird statement. Tackling well doesn't mean you're defending well!!

My eyes must be painted on then. Okay, I'll bite, what does a good defender do?

Nope. Tackle efficiency is a stat they have for all players. It's hard to believe how pig headed people can be.
You want to blame Croft and just like a religious zealot you don't care about evidence, you still want to say up is down and black is white. Croft is one of the best defensive halves going around. It's his attack that's shitty. I don't care what others think, he's an excellent defender.

Stops tries? Doesn’t get out of position resulting in the other team scoring tries/break the line.

I’m saying the stat doesn’t measure what you’re claiming it measures
