[Round 22, 2021] Broncos vs Roosters

As much as I get this sentiment many have shared I think Kev is doing the right thing at the moment by not addressing it. His team is still improving and you want to avoid anything that shifts the responsibility away from himself and the players. They need to own the fact they’re 2nd last and work their way out of it. Then they can start addressing the reffing
I am 100% with you on this, they should not be offered the opportunity of blaming the ref or anyone else for their results. I thought Kev handled that press conference superbly, to the extent that I have seen him praised by supporters of other clubs that can't stand us.

At the same time, I hope that the message is being relayed to the team, what the refs or the bunker do is completely out of your control. What is in your control is ensuring that
(a) you do not drop the ball in our 20, particularly on first or second tackle (Kennedy);
(b) you don't give away a cheap penalty within kicking distance for a head high (Flegler);
(c) you don't leave your smaller bodied hooker isolated on a rampaging prop so he can be run over (Riki - & Kevvie, for not using the interchange to ensure Riki had a break at some stage so he was not gassed);
(d) turning your back to the opposition as you are retreating on the blind (Kennedy);
(e) not marking up effectively on the blind allowing Teddy to break through; and
(f) leaving the defensive line short out wide so Copley can waltz through.

They are the things that lost us the game last night. If they control those things that they can control we win and we take the ref and the bunker out of the equation. So I hope that is the type of accountability that is being reinforced.

(G) catch the ball

Palasia overtook him for mine and Bull needs a bit more time. Kennedy to be fair has returned from that leg infection a bit underdone. Hopefully another off season will knock off the dross from his game, he was looking much improved this year until recently.
Must have been an absolutely terrible leg infection to affect his ability to catch.

Hopefully Flegler gets 6 weeks for not decking Clown the same way he smashed the roosters player who barely made the sideline after the hit. WTF has become of this game. Great effort from our boys. Lots to look forward to next year.

The smother is on, they are contriving controversy about the charge down to distract from the challenge **** up that actually decided the result of a game.

Of course they are, the brave Roosters are fighting for a top 4 spot without 8/5ths of their team. If they lose Radley (again) they are definitely, positively, certainly marinated and roasted. All he did was try and charge it down, didn't you see. He did not turn his back like Haas' attempted charge down because he's such a genuine good bloke, he's a champion, he doesn't have rubbish in his game at all.

Seriously though, it's sickening. I don't believe he MEANT to take out Kelly, but he walked the line (as he so often does) and went too far. He could have snapped both Kelly's legs ffs, that is the exact situation the rule is in place for. And anyone with eyes not painted on could see that is far more likely to injure a player thant Sitili headbutting Flegler's arm. Should be charged for the headbutt.

Love how Tallis loves us again. Even booing the Roosters lol

Charges:

Mead (Careless high tackle):

Early Guilty: $1350 fine
Guilty at Panel: $1800 fine

Gamble (Crusher Tackle):
Early Guilty: 2 weeks
Guilty at Panel: 3 weeks

Radley (Dangerous contact):
Early Guilty: 3 weeks
Guilty at Panel: 4 weeks

Both Kelly and Willison are being sent for scans for possible knee injuries (i think we can guess how Kelly picked up his)

Gamble has been cleared of a fracture, but his hand is swollen and the medical staff need to see how it settles down before making a call on his fitness (although they'll probably have a few weeks to get it sorted now)

and according to Fox Sports, we lost Dale Copley and Dany Levi to concussion

But Levi is still at the club?😉

3 weeks for Victor's 'controversial' penalty and fox are still talking about that as the point of contention not the Flegler one.

I agree with others sentiments after yet another shit post Broncos sleep. We get fucked so commonly now we need to not give it a chance to happen. Kennedy holds the ball, we win.

That's definitely not the only moment of stupidity either, its just that as fucked as the ref call was, that drop ball was just as unforgivable.

I think the club should be making more of the Liu shoulder on Levi. If you are going to be stupid and penalise Flegler for a legitimate tackle because you are trying to crack down on high shots, how can Liu shoulder charging Levi with the ball ok?

I’m used to head scratching stupidity from the NRL but I’m also sad because I think all of this is also taking away from just how good Flegler was, he’s really really coming good finally.

Origin camp was the best thing to happen to Flegler ... he has taken his game to another level since then
