I think a real momentum killer for us was when Tualagi (?) tweaked a hammy tackling us and the ref immediately called time off: I can’t understand why he did that, we had their d line shot to pieces and he wasn’t even badly hurt, he just grabbed his leg for a minute. He got up and played on, but all momentum was killed.

This was the moment the ref really upset me. But I’m still not blaming them for our performance.
I think the ref struggled to keep up with the frantic pace of the game. The Carrigan incident summed the entire game in a nutshell.

We didn't turn up mate, Reynolds puts in an incredible kick which ends up staying about a metre short of the dead ball line and the fullback was able to ruck it back into the field of play, that right there is the only thing you need to be looking at if you want to know whether or not we turned up.

The NRL needs to do something about teams being offside blatantly at scrums too.
I would need to rewatch the game - which is not ever going to happen ever thank you very much - to get into a to-and fro-over effort, but I guess I saw the live game differently. We'll have to agree to disagree.

If the loss was as simple as us "not turning up" then it puts a different shade of light on the depression we all feel today. I feel more like we were beaten, which is maybe worse. But slacking off isn't great either.

I would like to hear specifically which players you think weren't putting in. Billy, Jordan, Patty, Payne and Flegs certainly were. Everyone was sticking it to me how much Billy lifted. Which was fair. He was busting his guts.

Something not mentioned by anyone is that Reynolds was off sick this week. It was reported as "flu" but who the ***** know literally why he was off. Maybe he was struggling with fitness due to that. We will never know. He's had a few off games this season. I hope that's the last one we see for a while.

Frustrating loss for sure, but i just cant seem to get too upset about it, i think because in the last few seasons we were at the bottom of the ladder at this point in the comp, so there is still a bright side to this season even after losing.

Even the very best teams get beaten, the Cows almost got done by the tigers, penrith and the storm have both lost recently.

Cant win them all, and i feel like a loss like this, to the team running last can do just as much good for a team as a win can.

This loss will sting the group who have been running on a high from winning for the last 2 months, and this is the kind of loss that will spark a revival in a side to push hard into the finals.

I don't think the ref had any sort of idea to rob us of the win but the way the game panned out with stop/start sequences of play, it really negated our dominant middles. It just worked out perfectly for a team like the Tigers who are capable of putting on a try but not so capable of winning the arm wrestle, it didn't really matter though last night with how the game eventuated.

I couldn't really single out an individual, I think as a club we're past that stage. Just the effort areas coaches focus on, we came up short in those areas last night and defensively we were pretty ordinary.

Yeah, as much as it hurts, I think it's fair to say Noddy outcoached Kevvie last night. Pound for pound we looked like better players, but by the end of the game the Tigers looked the better team. I can't argue with the result.

The only way to feel better about it is to spank the living daylights out of the Roosters.

TMM has to come back in. Tesi just doesnt have the awareness or urgency, far too casual and slow to picking up what is about to happen.

I just don’t understand how we go from lauding TMM as a club for his organisation of our Defence. To dropping him after a minor injury to a bloke that puts in zero effort in that department.
Te Maire wasn't dropped. He's been injured, and Tesi returned as the previous incumbent. The timing sucked for Te Maire but that's all there is to see there. Fullback is now Tesi's to lose. Your mileage might vary on whether he has. Probably not, though.

We may have been shown up as pretenders by the Tigers. Thursday night will be telling. If we get thrashed, I think that will confirm it. If we win, or lose competitively by a small margin, it might still be game on. If we can beat roosters and storm we might still be a chance for top four.

Sorry @Big Del, I am on the Tesi has to go (for now). His refusal or reluctance to take high balls under pressure exposes us. He lacks urgency in responding to situations which leaves him out of position and he apparently struggles with organising the defence. TMM needs to come back in.

Rather than bag Tesi at fullback it's time to start thinking about where else he could fit into the team. Reece will be fullback next season. Let's just take that for granted.

Kotoni is not going anywhere. On the other side we have Herbie, Deine and potentially Tesi fighting for the place. Herbie would have to be in front, but I'd be as okay with any of them as I'd be sorry to see any of them go.

Where else could Tesi play? I don't see him as a winger, but Deine or Herbie, maybe. Selwyn and Corey look pretty locked in out there. We have two spares. More, if you count Hoeter and Pereira, who I think are a step down.

OK ,,, frame 1
WTF is Ezra doing in front of the posts when the ball is obviously going to the winger ? Where is the left side defence ? You expect Tesi to beat the passes to the corner ? He is the best athlete ever seen , but he`s not that fast .
Yeah but it`s Tesi`s fault .

Frame 2 Clever work to isolate Paix . Big on small , the Tigers player was already past Tesi and under Paix . He could only flop on top then .

Frame 3 he has 3 -4 Tigers players running at him in the back field . He took the man with the ball . And the runner very nearly fcked up his pass under pressure .

Not examples I would drop the kid for .

Sure the tries might still have happened, but hes committing cardinal sins back there. Top teams will destroy him.

Frame 1:
The whole left side was stalled, Tesi started to chase across, put brake on - then had to sprint again. Might not have stopped the try but SHOULD have been there. He didnt read it.

Frame 2:
Tesi stood there and hoped Paix would stop him. He SHOULD have put his body infront of the player, he had the time but not the awareness.

Frame3:
He was having a holiday in back field and decided to stay deep and off the play instead of crunch up on the ball player. He was 10m away, and completely over ran the play when the ball was passed. Zero pressure by him.
