Cobbo was defending on the wing for the entire set and came in for no reason and showed no urgency to get back out to his wing. He was randomly standing in the middle of the field. It was poor but I’m not allowed to discuss it apparently.

Speaking of agendas, I’ll see you in the Billy Walters thread that definitely isn’t an agenda. It’s a conspiracy

It was 5th tackle, Tigers attacked down their right, Cobbo was coming in to help cart the ball out of our end when we got the ball back so not for no reason.

He probably showed no urgency to get back because both Paix and Mam were very slow getting into the line and Walsh was caught at marker. In the Matt Nable video about Patty, they show footage of Patty talking at training and one of the things he talks about is players making a decision defensively and the others backing him up. Cobbo made a decision, the others backed him up.

We had any potential threat out wide easily covered, nothing issue really.

No one is saying you're not allowed to discuss it.

He came from the wing to the centre of the field on the last tackle, wasn’t involved in the tackle and decided to stand in the middle of the field and was caught out of position. He was lucky Staggs got back to stop it. Easily covered… they nearly scored!

Come off it. It was lazy and it wasn’t the only time. He’s been very lucky that a few of the times he’s been caught out someone covers for him or he took an intercept to score.

Staggs had no issues getting to that ball, he was even jogging back. Easily covered.

No luck involved. He plugged a hole in the middle of the field, Staggs covered the outside. Made a decision, the others backed him up.

Nothing issue.

You're right, his positioning and decision making is fine and he's already the smartest most perfect player in the game..

He still has a lot to learn especially in terms of awareness and game IQ,
I think the expectations of him being the next GI were always being heavily optimistic..

I still think with time, experience, the extra size and physicality to come over the next few seasons even if he doesn't reach GI type potential, he will still likely be a valuable asset to have, similar to a daniel tupou value player.

Hopefully guys like Reno and Carrigan can be that influence to guide him into getting the best out of himself.

This right here.

He has a lot of potential, he's trying his guts out to get it right and he gets it wrong sometimes. He's 20, literally at the very start what is hopefully a long career.

He's got lots to learn and a massive ceiling.

Could he fail? Yes - so could anyone. Haas could develop a powder habit and be a write off in 12 months - but do we get caught up in random crap that might happen? No. It's pointless.

Right now - he's learning the game, he's rock and diamonds which is absolutely on track for a player of his young age.

He's putting in monster efforts out of our end. He's equal 20th (out of 300+) and the 2nd highest bronco for tackle breaks behind Haas. Also 8th overall for run meters.

The kid's trying, and doing a lot of work.

To call him "lazy" shows a complete lack of awareness of anything other than a highly biased opinion.

Edit- **** it. Not defending a point of view that I can’t add details to. You win.

I am a fan of watch Cobbo and like the way he can make things happen from nothing. But I believe he is a little overrated, though that doesn't mean I want to just let him loose either. I would leave him on the right wing and have him be fullback back up when needed.

Life lesson....integrity will only get you so far.

That said......I believe your initial sentiments have gone askew from your original comments.

I disagree. I still think he’s going to waste his talent but I hope he doesn’t. That was my initial point.

Cobbo is one of my favourite players and tonight's game just proved something to me. Cobbo needs to be moved to centre asap and Staggs either wing or Qcup. Cobbo beat 4 defenders while staying in from touch was amazing. We need the ball in his hands more, he runs over players and works hard. Where as Staggs is getting worse and hates to do the hard yards. I want us to let him go the end of the year and definitely move Cobbo in, but before then is even better.

I actually think Staggs has gotten better this season.

More carries, better defence, and he actually appears to come looking for the ball in attack.
